You read it here first, Fiserv employee database was hacked. Approximately 60K current and former Fiserv employees personal information was stolen during the attack. Messages have started being sent to employees who received text messages from Frank asking for money.

Read the original post @2cuv+1gxvQSge, the whole thread is made up, it’s supposed to be funny.

Do we need to add an /s tag for sarcasm to all the posts these days or /jk for just kidding? How in the world did a post obviously joking about a data breach get so many people to think it actually happened? The post is making fun of Frank, which should be kind of obvious. Seriously, folks?

What is the status of this?

Fiserv was already known to be a little out of date when it comes to security - but if this is true, it is really bad.

Ouch, Frank - better get this under control. Burying this thread won't solve the problem I'm afraid.

If true, seems like they are playing fast and loose with the law in some states...

So what happens if direct deposit accounts are comprised? Can someone drain the direct deposit account? Why isn't Fiserv admitting to this?

@gqjm

Not doubting you but wouldn't they be required to disclose this information in a timely manner?

I am privy to some details, but not many. What is known is that a Workday database was compromised. What is not known is whether the leaker had access to the encryption key used to protect the PII data within it (direct deposit account numbers and DOBs in particular).

We were told its highly confidential and cant be discussed but some security mechanisms are mandatory going forward. No exceptions. Looks like something did happen

Well if the information about Fiserv being hacked is true, then it shows you that the current management is once again to blame for it. The majority of fiserv management is currently from First Data. They were hacked before fiserv bought them out and had to pay a penalty for it. Now fiserv has been hacked under the very same management. Keep cutting costs and outsourcing. if it is true, you will probably be hacked again until you learn the real lesson. "You get what you pay for!". Cheap has it's own costs.

Frank, don't worry, we haven't forgotten about this thread. It'll continue to get bumped to the top of the list until you tell us what exactly was compromised, and how it got compromised. You'll be forced to publish the gritty details about the state of disrepair Fiserv is in when it comes to security. You'll be held fully accountable and exposed to the media in due time.

"There will also be a payout to anyone who's data was compromised in exchange for signing an NDA that you will not report this and implicate that Fiserv systems were hacked."

You just made that up, companies get hacked all the time and never give people anything.
I think the most i've ever gotten, other than my identity stolen, was a year free subscription to one of those stupid identity lock systems. Those are a bigger scam than the scammers!

@1lsp+1gxvQSge Well this would be the result of Pam, Jason D, and Pete's awesome security program that they brought over from First Data. Where they ignored advice from multiple former employee's to implement an industry standard cyber security frameworks. Instead they decided to create their our called "Four" pillars which was blind to several types of attacks, and dropped the internal security testing teams.

Maybe it was one of the employees who was recently laid off. That should narrow the list down to several hundred.

I'm going to leak this bad boy to the media, with proof, once it's 100% confirmed. This is an absolutely unacceptable lapse in security -- and then to bribe employees to keep their mouths shut. Shame on you, Frank. Maybe if you weren't so busy finding ways to subsidize Clover advertising onto your employees, you'd put better security in place. Frank goin' DOWN.

Cyber security team is looking into it, they are not able to say what information was taken or who's information was taken. Once they know what employees and former employees data has been compromised they will communicate directly with them. There will also be a payout to anyone who's data was compromised in exchange for signing an NDA that you will not report this and implicate that Fiserv systems were hacked.

We would know if it was actually a text from Frank. He would not have been asking for money but rather more employees because there has been a mass exodus for the door the last 7 or 8 months. Or maybe he would have asked for a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
