“Our team lost one of our top Kubernetes experts a couple months ago.”

I know we are all pi---d off at this blatant transfer of US jobs to India. It will be prudent not provide specific info that will allow your manager to identify you.

Our team lost one of our top Kubernetes experts a couple months ago. My manager's response was we will get 5 people in India to replace him. That seems to be the direction the company is going.

@gkb+1i7L1TcF: Can confirm. I was retained due to specific knowledge of some of the services. I'm not interested in "training my replacement" so I'm lining up interviews. I'll miss out on severance, but at least I'll have benefits until I hit the road.

Those retained were selected for their specific skillset and knowledge. Most likely the goal is to transition that knowledge to IDC over the next year. The irony is that those retained are highly employable and unlikely to stay.

Got lucky. Replacements will be planned in IDC and then will be RIF ed next year.
