Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

This shouldn't be the norm

When did it become perfectly acceptable to carry the workload of at least two people for the same pay? Since the last layoff, everybody on my team had to pick up extra work to make up for the people who were let go, and it just stayed like that. We never got any replacements, never got any help, no reduced workload, nothing. It's just half the people breaking our backs to do the same amount of work. How is this okay?

The laughable bit is that they believe that just by watching the videos makes the SEs experts

@ge+1jppd1ybj The product specific stuff is fine enough. However, they package with a bunch of tu-d which makes them unwatchable. I would like to see product overviews and how to quote it. More importantly, these should be voluntary. I will watch it when I need the information. Making watch something that I will not have an opportunity to quote for 12+ months wastes my time.

@bw+1jppd1ybj I freaking wish people were watching mindtickle - at least they'd understand what we have on the truck to sell, instead of complaining about our products

The reason it’s become acceptable is because it’s working. Why would they increase staff when the existing staff is accomplishing the goals?

Corporate America works on hard data, not feelings. If you’re working OT to meet these goals, stop. Sit down with your manager and prioritize what’s really important and what is fluff you can ignore.

My director also just shared he’s planning to sell a percentage of his shares just in case . Unfortunately, his percentage being sold is my total so not sure

The SE org is all about micromanaging the people, watching Mindtickle videos, and doing a Mist demo. The Nutanix crowd is really trying hard to ki-l the E in SE

Y'all must be talking about commercial sales engineering. I use the term engineering in the lightest firm possible.

Perfect definition of how to ruin an organization.

I notice a trend in tech. Directors and VPs get a position a new company, push out people, and bring in their friends from previous gigs. They all stay 12-24 months and move on. I was at Cisco a long time before, but I notice now there is more turnover now in tech than a Mcdonalds.

At least your team picks up the work . I’ve been on a team where some absolutely do nothing! Got hired due to the managers previous connection with several promises to bring in sales but does absolutely sh*t but still favoured when worthy team mates who actually did work were wfr’ed
