30 speed coming soon. Gears are made from communion wafers to fit in the existing design envelope.
What a bunch of cu-ts, is no lesson learned?
I was a mainframe consultant that made money helping Ford move the systems to Visteon and then more money moving it back! Thank You Ford for paying for my new VW Jetta Diesel.
I heard a 15 speed 200 Nm auto transmission is next! 15R200 for the next generation : ) But who will make it first: ZF, GM, Ford or Alison ?
@ng Keen to hear more insights from the lot of you. Always good to explore different ideas. Is the point to not spin off the engine and instead keep it integrated with the product? To focus on stronger, simpler, and more durable designs? To build something solid that is engineered, validated, and supported as a whole, not broken into separate standalone pieces? Something predictable and trusted by fleets because the powertrain, transmission, and support all live together under one program?
Sounds like Jack Nassar is back. Next will be spinning of engine division.
Go back to a robust 6 speed.

is this the reason to spinoff the transmission division..?
LOL Ford. What a joke.
@ga It’s not just the executives that are sleaz.
@g9 lots of sleazy people here
Should call it "Shifty-co". Because moves like this are always questionable.
Sounds like they are just trying to get money off the Ford books.
If it was spun off, who would be their competitors? Don't the large OEM' design and build their own transmissions?
Low hanging fruit would be too close Rawsonville. They do light assemble at UAW wages.
@a5 It would have been easier to figure out a CVT.
I don't always rebuild a transmission, but when I do, it's a Ford Livonia Transmission... The Most Interesting Man in The World.
Think they'll fix the 10 speed and maybe come out with a 12 speed?
