@qf I wouldn’t doubt it. The sad thing is if they did get down to7k US based associates ore than half would probably be directors and SVP. So freaking top heavy but would find some way to justify their existence. I worked I an area that didn’t have SVP for over 9 months and everything get moving without a hitch. Then they hired a dou--e SVP and whole area went downhill in a hurry.

Managers are in a horrible spot and it gets worse all the time. As a manager (if you are a real leader) you try to help, educate, support and protect your staff. In turn your self absorbed (cares only about keeping their job) Director hammers you daily. Micro manages every speck of every metric and constantly demands more and expects you to get rid of staff who do not meet a metric the director doesn't even understand. And then doesn't give you the number of people you need. Everything is a GD firedrill - everything! Except caring about staff -
VP's are even worse - I left 2 months ago - best move I ever made. What makes me sad is that this entire site SCREAMS how toxic this place is and how miserable most people are -

@et it’s not only don’t promote your employees but layoff tens of thousands with rolling layoffs pretty much monthly all so Gail can get her obscene compensation package. The bonuses were abysmal this year but of course not for her.

If Sr management is actually reading this, I don’t know how you sleep at night while ruining people’s lives by laying them off when they have given this company their all and many of them were there for decades. The absolute lack of integrity in management is astounding. And to those Managers and Directors and SVP’s who don’t even go to bat to keep your team members who you work side by side with daily and you see them putting in ridiculous hours and still read off a script on your 15 min last minute call and then tell those that you just turned their world upside down that you can’t talk to them again nor can you give them the bare minimum of a reference, you are absolutely no better and with any justice, you will be the next to see that last minute meeting pop up and only then will you understand the real life consequences of these layoffs. While these constant layoffs apparently are just fun and games to Gail, hopefully those managers and directors who work side by side with the actual people who you layoff like it’s nothing have some ounce of compassion and guilt for their actions. While it is doubtful since it seems to be a requirement of management at Elevance to be heartless, morally bankrupt robots, hopefully your decisions or lack of fighting for your team members will eat at you and if there is any justice in this world, you will be next.

While it is a business, it’s also people’s lives which are majorly impacted and it’s possible some of them will lose everything they have worked so hard for after giving years to this company just so Gail and her cronies can make an extra dollar.

But hey don’t worry, according to Google
“In 2024, Gail Boudreaux, CEO of Elevance Health, received a total compensation of $20,471,976. This included a base salary of $1,600,000, stock awards of $12,600,032, option awards of $4,199,989, non-equity incentive plan compensation of $1,142,400, and other compensation of $929,555. “

Don’t promote your employees though…

@ac they definitely aren’t trying to figure out how to keep anyone. The constant rush of layoffs monthly with this company just shows that the sr management has absolutely no business running a company.

@dv 100% True on my end too. Was forced to WAH 2017 though I didn't want to. Was told my cubicle cost too much overhead for our department. I think I was given $5,000.00/month. The language drops from both sides of their mouths depending on how they want to present their case. Such convoluted malarkey!!!!

@dk I can confirm. I had worked for state Medicaid, then moved to Medicare. I was told they didn’t want to pay for me to have a desk in the office. Don’t know why people are downvoting these posts. It is what it is.

@dk yup I heard that too. My manager at the time 10ish years ago confirmed that desks were under their cost centers and it was an issue when someone had an extra desk. With all the overhead it was easier to have people work from home according to leadership back in the day.

@df years ago around 15 years now we were told for the office I worked in we had to work in the office full time or work at home full time to make a choice because to rent a desk was $4,000 a month. Needless to say we all went home but maybe 1 person who wanted to still go in from my department. Times sure have changed been home years full time now have to go back.

@ax I heard they are trying to cut 20% of the workforce. Makes no sense when you riff people then immediately hire people into the roles you just riffed. I saw it happen in after they riffed me. I thought can I apply for this? They didn’t move that job offshore either. Makes no freaking sense. You lose knowledge by rigging then hire someone into the same role and I would argue it’s not cheaper because usually the new people they hire coming in will make the same if not more than people they riffed because they try and match MRP. A lot of people in roles for years make less the MRP because merit increases don’t keep up.

@ac RTO directly goes against cost savings in terms of space needed and cost of utilities. Cost is also more than financial. If we truly care about our members, associates, sustainability in our environment, and health of humanity lets keep in mind the environmental impact of carbon emissions. If we want to recall there are images from covid times that clearly point out the difference less commuting makes. Associates are also members so shaking things up for them directly impacts their health in terms of work/life balance, stress, and financial health. In terms of oversight people are hired for their talents. If there are concerns it should be decided 1:1 not by the mass workforce to justify the amount of management in the organization.

@bs oh so familiar. And the one person with the knowledge won’t share it because it’s the one thing that might keep them from being riffed. Every associate survey points out lake of collaboration/ knowledge sharing. People are just trying anything they can to save their jobs. You start in a new area of the company and lack of documentation on how to do tasks is astounding. Plus people who have been in the tile for years on end don’t have any time for newbies because they feel threatened. A lot are huge bullies. I blame the leadership for making it this way.

@ax because they did big cuts the past 2 years in those months. What do you mean how can they do that many big cuts in a year? Have you not been paying attention. Elevance employs over 100k people. Big cuts are easy with that big of a headcount.

I heard the airline had only one person trained to properly install the door plug, and he was on PTO the day that exit door on the airplane was worked on. Sound familiar? You will hear that more and more at Elevance as more employees are riffed or quit. Oh, we only have one person that has that knowledge, so you will have to wait until they return. Or, we don't know the answer to that question because the person that had that knowledge is no longer here.....

I think it’s a poorly done attempt at sarcasm. I did catch the plane reference; there was a news piece today that the recent Alaska Air incident where a door plug blew out was due to a fill in worker not bolting it correctly. It was reported that the regular worker was out on vacation.

Cuts make good financial sense. It’s not as if something catastrophic could happen. Like a door falling off an airplane in flight because someone didn’t install the bolts correctly. Nothing like that ever happens.

Reorganization and cost savings should always begin on the top and not on the bottom. You get a lot of savings from that! Do we really need 5 levels of leaders? SLT can spin how great Elevance is but the company will collapse without any strong footing with workers. All these tops leaders just love to delegate and blame on their staff. They come up with ideas for cost savings and expect the workers to implement their grand idea even though there is no one left. I hope they plan to have some of our “leaders” do some work because there will be no one left.

I noticed all the higher ups in meetings today too. I honestly do think they are trying to find ways to keep everyone and be cost effective. I don’t have any specific evidence but I do think we are going to see more layoffs this fall, more strict return to office policy, more reorganization ect. Anything to show that they are reducing cost and improving oversight.
