@g7 come on Barnesy.
Mellon’s systems were a disaster even when the Flintstones were using them. Examples such as IAS, workbench, PAM … hahahahhahaha these were so bad and so error prone that hundreds of clients wanted custom reporting and custom data feeds themselves. And we all recall who was the chairman and CEO during and after the merger with his handpicked gang of crooks. Where is Bob these days? Oh that’s right… counting his ill gained money. Mellon was the virus in what was really a bad merger. Mellon and BNY were like two mo-rons having a child together and expecting an Einstein. And now look what we have….
@G7 you are so wrong. Mellon was the golden child in the merger. Most police’s converted to the Mellon way. Pittsburg became the main office once they closed 1 Wall. It was all about Mellon. BoNY employees got the big scr-wing with that merger back in the day!
@ Joe Ball
How to tell me you're from New York without saying you're from New York.
Mellon was the surviving entity? BoNY took over and ran this whole place into the ground with their antiquated systems and the New York arrogance...."we know better than you rubes, just do what we tell you."
Everyone needs to take a stand. Dont go in office. They cant fire everyone. And if they do, unemployment and a mini vacation it is. Leave them short staffed and stop sharing notes and knowledge. People cant take your place if they dont know sh-t
@ed
Joe,
It’s not BNY anymore either. Much of the legacy BNY people are extinct already.
It is the cult of Goldman doo doo now.
The only reason why Robin Vince is mandating RTO is because he wants to turn BNY into Goldman 2.0. He dropped the “M” last year in effort to draw a corollary to the oldest bank in the US, which is laughable considering that Mellon was clearly the surviving entity and changing the image is nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig.
Former BNY employee here. I was in-office daily for over 2-years. My co-workers and I used to laugh when those Peakon surveys would arrive and have the questions about "speaking with leadership with regards to career advancement," or "mentorship," or "making career goals with leadership."
Where I worked, leadership nearly hid themselves daily and when you would engage with them, they either scurried to their desk or went outside on a smoke break.
The reality of what BNY is and the image they want to sell to passersby are worlds apart.
toxic at its finest
It’s not BNY, it’s BNLie
@a4 It was the same way here before Covid, too
We’re just another cog in the wheel. The only reason why they’re having returned to office mandates is because if you return to the office, you can contribute to society. You have to buy clothes you have to put gas in your car. You have to pay tolls for some areas. Or you have to pay for the train. Working from home means not contributing to society, which means the bank’s not making money. You working from home doesn’t make them money.
THATS what it boils down to. If you contribute to society, you make the CEO money. If you work from home and do your 40 and you’re purchasing less clothing less coffee less gas less car wear and tear you’re not contributing to society and the bank doesn’t make money.
That’s why financial institutions and the govt have RTO mandates.
The thing is, I just don't feel like thriving in this place anymore...
I've actually grown to hate working here!
Thrive…
I am actually ashamed to share the same breathing space as the losers here. And I am a loser here until I get a new position. Only then, will I win. I get nothing but more bills and personal revulsion by coming in here 4 and 5 times a week. There is nothing special, enticing , enriching or savory about anyone here. We are all just people who need to be here until we get something else or this septic tank fires us. All of us are not special. We are just captives who lose.
I personally not seen any faster collaboration, stronger connections, no complex challenges has been resolved, and no mentoring as nobody is hired only fired. Granted I’m not in one of the growth centers but this is so stupid and sure creates an even more miserable workplace. Good luck to you all and for you that buy this smh ,it will hit you eventually as well.
Completely tone deaf! These “leaders” are either completely out of touch or intentionally want everyone‘s morale to crushed. Absolutely toxic!
The cognitive dissonance is breathtaking.
