"The older generations that have institutional knowledge and the golden handcuffs will be gone in the next few years. It’s why they are expediting decoms, software, hardware and process changes now, those that supported all the legacy systems will be gone. Even for those that become contractors it won’t be for long before they retire permanently. It’s the reason for open source systems, white boxes and off the shelf software products like Workday & INFOR. More to come, hold on!"
nah, they just want to save a ton of money on proprietary software fees. the ones left doing the decomms on old hardware will more than likely be the ones continuing the whitebox, open roadm, open ran, etc. builds since most have taken the time for skills upgrades. i dont really know who they would get to contract since the contractors are having a really hard time finding new installers to train to install the new open platforms now. they have put us behind schedule. i have no idea who they will hire in 10-12 years when most of us are gone.
