Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

EH please get rid of MD

EH,

Please find a better leader than MD. She is adding gas to the fire that already was GT.

How many horrible leaders must GT endure.

She’s part of John’s baggage and needs to leave with him.

In GT you never speak down, only up. That's how we have the same people around for 10-20 years warming chairs and scrolling Linkedin 8 hours a day.

MD's hand-picked JS is bringing Amazon culture to Nike too... need to look at anyone hired under JD, RL, and MD!

Speaking from experience: never trust MD, DA, JC and JH.

Add AS in resiliency and the directors below him…..phony as f and ego driven who only manage up and treat those below them like peons.

Not only MD but every other leader that MD hired needs to go. And what a bad leader DA has been for GT!

If teams have to write white papers for a CTO to explain something that a CTO should know by default, CLEARLY someone is not in the right job.

MD was inducted by DA who delivered nothing in his tenure. He managed SP then RL and Now MD. No tech knowledge just spinning stories.

Wrongly advised and I am glad she got the new CIO who is at least technical and changing tech ops.

DA destroyed GEO for his love for JH. That gossip my god.

MD is good and just has wrong chief of staff. Her leadership issue to know who should advise you.

And please don’t be mean to describe her. You and me together can’t get a maths PHD.

MD hyping up AI not in supporting functions but for Innovation is a huge red flag and speaks volumes about her abilities or lack thereof . This is another shiny object like RTFKT that Nike threw millions of $ at.
If we're asking AI to think and innovate for us, where does that leave Nike? Already we're losing in the innovation space.
What's her vision for GT apart from AI? can anyone show me the GT elevator pitch /road map for next 2/3/5 years?

"A players hire A players. B players hire C players."

JD was barely a D player. What does that make MD?

@fgp the Apparently kid won't like your spelling. heh.

Yeah MD has to go, you can say all the usual platitudes about give her chance etc etc. but she has barely communicated with GT much less actually made any significant or useful decisions.

Yet another "manage up" person, like we need more of those.

Agree. She needs to go. Impressive educational background and the Amazon experience sounds good on paper. She was in the Amazon role for less than 3 years. 2 years and 9 months to be exact. Why leave such an impressive role so quickly? Find that part interesting. What has she contributed in the last 12+ months at Nike? All for giving her time but shouldn’t we see some signs of turnaround in GT by now? Some glimmers of hope?

Despite what JD said about her in the introduction video they did, I have heard from a very reliable source that MD was not among the top five candidates for the CTO role.

Appearantly, numerous other offers were made to other candidates who all turned it down for various reasons. My personal speculation is that all of these other candidates must have had pretty high paying and well placed positions elsewhere
that they'd be leaving, and they either were not impressed with JD or they did enough research to understand that Nike GT has been a dumpster fire for over a decade now (maybe longer). Look at the track record of the past six CTOs/CIOs that Nike has had and you won't see a bunch of success.
