Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Stress of Working for Wells Thread

This thread needs to stay alive.

https://www.thelayoff.com/t/186N4k1m

We get too many troll threads and off the wall questions that server no purpose.

The Wells stress thread is not one of those.

I can't stand logging in, I am waking up at night dreading work the next day, all of the same things people are saying in that thread.

If you're happy here good for you, but there seem to be a awful of people who could use whatever comfort or advice other people dreading this place can share.

PTSD is not a military term.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)[note 1] is a mental disorder that can develop after a person is exposed to a traumatic event, such as s-xual assault, warfare, traffic collisions, child abuse, or other threats on a person's life.[1][6]

Some people get very attached to their job. Maybe it's security, maybe it's job satisfaction, maybe they like their peers and identify with a group.

When that job becomes toxic, they are still attached by the need for security (food, shelter) or through their peer group.

Most people are driven by feelings, for better or worse, happiness at a job well done or fear of losing a paycheck.

For most people, after family and relationships, their job is the thing the defines them. Again for better or worse.

PTSD from serving in the military is something our country needs to address.

PTSD from a toxic work environment is something we come to places like this website to gain some insight into.

Hey @1gtw, nope, it won't stay alive, because people asking questions about things that have nothing to do with layoffs, or people trolling, or that guy who complains about some teller in tech or whatever will crowd it out.

The point of keeping a useful thread allive is to help people feeling the same way.

The galaxy brains who are saying it's not PTSD do not understand what PTSD is, or how people get attached to their job and coworkers.

What's the first question most people ask you when you meet them for the first time?

So, what do you do for a living?

It's possible not everyone knows everything about everyone else.

Can’t we just stop the many troll threads and off the wall questions that “server” no purpose?

People should stop cheapening PTSD by claiming it from office work.

It reminds me of calling everyone a racist. All it does is remove any validity that might be left in the word.

Show some respect for our military who got actual PTSD in 25 years of endless wars.

Clearly OP is in technology or would know that simply by posting to it, it will magically stay alive.

Hey I also got a position in IT at BOA! Guess they are hiring all the IT workers from Wells as they know they may get layed off

Ignore the trolls. No one with a functioning brain, or a soul, would speak highly of Wells Fargo if they actually work here. The tell-tale sign is their ignorance and toxicity.

Hey guys

I got a job with a successful large company, and started about 3 weeks back. This job was a dead end job, was good prior to all the crimes took place, but then only going downhill. Maybe it turns around, maybe it doesn't.

In any case, life is short, don't want to wait decades and pay for someone else's mistakes when I had nothing to do with those in any way.

Once i moved out, had to learn so much, nothing in tech wells does is current, so its like night and day. All companies are doing things these new ways. I think the longer i would have waited the harder it would have been for me. I am learning lots now and ready to move on with life and never look back. I am so much happier, haven't seen all the back stabbing that takes place here, at least not yet.

Nobody should be stressing out.

Worrying about if you will, or won't, have a job in the future is of zero benefits to you. Nothing you can do will really affect this, so you have to make peace with it, like so many other things in life that you can't truly influence.

If you get laid off, you get a minimum 8 weeks salary continuation from WF and at least 12 weeks (shortest in the US) of state unemployment. That's nearly half a year of income. By the time you're about to be off UE the country should start reopening due to vaccines, and jobs will start opening up.

I say this as a single parent who has about 1 month of living expenses in savings, and no piece of paper to wave to the bouncers in HR.

I think the truth is too many entitled WF employees have been milking the cow for long enough. Now that it appears their cushy jobs are coming to an end they just can’t handle it

I deal with a guy in tech who is online maybe 2 hours a day. Never dials into any meetings, never gets his training done on time and his work quality is average at best.

But he’s the first one complaining about wells any chance he gets...and the complaints are constant

I bet a lot of the posters on here are like that employee

Time to move along now fellas

PTSD come on people. You have underlying problems if Wells Fargo is giving you ptsd.

@1rnd+188RN1Ml, I have seen this first hand. They probably didnt understand where I am located, as Wells is a no name employer as it is not where their offices are. So they thought they could pull this on me, but i can make more money in just about any company in my area and work in a better culture. Most of the people in the group seemed like they lived in those types of area you describe.

It was toxic beyond belief, if i was in the situation as those people where that is the only option, not sure what i would do.

I worked in a phone bank too. I believe whoever said they have ptsd. You don't know the "power" some of those leaders think they have. Its petty, and straight out of a sh–ty teen drama show.

But it happened. And its happening. And there are front line banks living in cities with sh–ty opportunities where WF really is the employer of choice.

If you think this is b—s— than I am grateful you don't go through what some of us do.

But no, I don't think we need to discuss this to death. We need to be better. Check in on the little guys, they are not ok.

You are so right! We need to go back to having some leaders take management and leadership classes including how to maintain and build a culture.

Can we please do Mgt 601 and I'll do an elective of Mgt 692. I work in Conduct Risk now so that should be fun and relatable.
Without evidence or witnesses then there nothing that can be done.

Why is it when someone posts actual real information/advice others instantly take it as a personal affront to their lives and the posts get downvoted so hard? Just kidding, I don’t care about the answer because I already know it. People want to beotch and moan about a situation and have a pity party that others can join in on and agree with them. No one wants to be told to be personally accountable, to leave and find another job to make yourself happy. They want it provided to them because dammit all to he77 they are owed that!

Or you could just be like me and if a place doesn’t turn out to be what you need or the circumstances change you move on. Using “but there’s a Pandemic” is a tired lazy excuse for your own lack of ambition that doesn’t hold water.

Ok the comment about PTSD from working at wells is completely nutty. If that’s true, that person has much bigger problems and needs to go take care of their mental health

Hey @ffz, you're not wrong, but you're also not considering people's individual situations or the pandemic.

I think we can all ignore your little lecture, but stay safe and take care anyway.
