Could anyone explain the meaning behind the colors on the org chart bricks ? they at times appear as yellow, light brown and dark brown, where the standard color of the bricks seems to be white.
There are also * preceding the names of employees (while in the org chart view, not while displaying the outline and individual records).

Ooops, yeah. We have D&I examining this issue – waiting for the committee to approve recommended color scheme.
I figured brown meant you were in deep you know.

thank you for your insight. I looked again and the * indeed indicates a direct manager role open, but there are some cases where the bricks are yellow despite no open role above. I have a feeling this has something to do with shifting of teams under the reorganization that is under way. I thought that the color would be an indicator of the stage in the process, but it doesn't seem that way. I am looking at this because my team is affected and I'd like to know to what extent. As everyone else, we are not given any details of what's coming our way.

Wow. Slow work day?
The * mean their direct manager role is open so those people dotted line report to the 1 higher manager. The yellow is usually the open role and those people that report to that slot. The white is usually support staff or other direct reports that don't have people that report to them. Then the darker color are peers that report to the lighter colored box/manager.
Sounds like a D&I issue to me. File a complaint with the ethics committee.
