Anyone have solid info on the cloud certification they are pushing on everyone in tech? If we don't get that certification complete by the EOY are we toast?

If you're a software developer [of any age] here you should already be capable of just picking up the concepts without taking the AZ-900 which is practically just a sales pitch by Microsoft.
In our group the applications themselves need at least hundreds of hours of work to be brought up to date (or functionality moved elsewhere) and deployed to modern public cloud environment. Not even a whisper of when these may be moved to a public cloud.
I know I'm capable of picking up these concepts on the fly, I don't see the need to share my certification status w/ WFC. If they don't like it f-em. I'll move on.
Last year we HAD to do az-900. Then they pushed 365 and to do that before eoy. That fizzled out, but I was one of the only ones on my team to do it. Of course, I get laid off.
If you have waited until now to study cloud and get a cert, then you are part of the problem and the very dead weight that needs to be cut. Let me guess, 50+ years old and still living in the pre-merger days. Yep, time for you to go start gardening or knitting or “traveling the world” in the time with you have left on Earth.
If you have to ask, then just go ahead and turn in your badge and laptop.
@epb Why would I be upset? it's no skin off my back if you get fired over the cert.
Unlike you, I was proactive about protecting my potential for a package.
Toast? Maybe not, but you'll miss part of the goals though.
Tech didn't meet the goal last year so I would think there's a bigger push this year. It's not that hard, but you do need to focus on the material. Just carve out the time to do it. AZ-900 shouldn't be that hard, nor should GCP Cloud Digital Leader.
@trk sorry you can't handle a little tough love over a very simple work request.
If you have an engineering or engineer in your title, you should complete it. They seem to be changing their tune about some roles like analysts from what is going around. Mgrs, SMs, BSCs, etc are probably exempt from it.
They said to get the certification done by year end 2022.
I did it last year and have since forgotten everything. It was a waste of time since, I don’t do cloud work.

You can pass the basic cloud certs with about 6-8 hours of cramming YouTube videos if you're even remotely capable of thinking about technological concepts. Acting like this is some huge barrier to continued employment is silly, especially when you consider that these are relevant certs to today's job market.
Block out 8 hours of a slow work week and cram them during work. Schedule the test for the day after. Pass without much effort.
