Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

“Leadership” Politicians

What’s really frustrating, and honestly a little disturbing, is how many of our leaders have started acting like politicians. They ignore anything negative, spin reality, and only focus on whatever sounds good in a town hall or email. It’s insulting to our intelligence and completely out of touch with what’s actually happening on the front lines, where the real work gets done.

Until leadership stops pretending everything is fine and starts listening to the people doing the work, nothing will change. Just more talk, less trust, and a widening gap between the top and the rest of us.

WORK is what you do to earn money so that you can live your LIFE and potentially so that you can enjoy some comforts while you live. It's only a JOB. If ATT fired you today, you'd have to find another JOB to live.
None of us should expect genuine caring and comfort, truth and support from a company. Those things you get, if you're lucky, from people who care about you--family, friends, spiritual connections.

@dk
Lori Lee, Stankey and maybe McFresh are the only ones with close to over 25 years.
Most of the remain leaders have only been here for 5 maybe 6 years.

Similar to a Schumer, McConnell and Pelosi our dinosaur leaders never leave because they love power.

These “leaders” slow down ANY innovation or change as to not disturb the natural order of the kingdom they built.

Basically any 3rd lvl or above that has 30 plus years is dragging their feet and the company down.

@aq you may have given a lot of thought to your comment but it falls short.
It’s naive and quite frankly stupid

@bd - those Google perks came with big price to your personal life.

Even the great Henry Ford had been criticized for his leadership style:

“Henry Ford's leadership style faced significant criticism for its autocratic and authoritarian nature. Known for being strong-willed and controlling, he expected his employees to follow his instructions without question. This approach often stifled creativity and innovation within the company, as workers were discouraged from challenging the status quo or proposing new ideas. Additionally, Ford's relentless focus on efficiency and productivity sometimes compromised employee welfare, with reports of poor working conditions, long hours, and inadequate wages. Critics contended that his leadership style was outdated, lacking an understanding of the importance of empowering employees and fostering a collaborative work environment.”

Point being, it was probably never that good and the grass is always greener….

@b3 Absolutely. Yes occasionally you will see companies and leaders that really give a damn about employees but it is very rare and even when places do appear to care, it’s only when things are good. As soon as there is any downturn it’s same sh!t different day. I’ve worked for a few different companies of different sizes and have seen all this first hand.

Anyone here not remember all those insane perks Google and other tech companies were known for? You don’t see those stories popping up quite so often now do you?

@a5
'Leaders used to actually value their workers.' Really, when was that the case?
Perhaps working in a small business, typically family owned that might be the case. But Fortune 500 companies don't fit into that model.

Remember how Henry Ford treated workers in the early 20th century? American workers have lost ground over the past 100 years as far as progress is concerned.

@aq I would but then my company would have to be featured on the layoff website and then I would see your posts there.

@aq the prescription for unhappiness doesn’t always come in the form of creating your own empire.
No, quite the opposite.
While you aim low by saying “small business”, it’s not clear why you think that brings fulfillment. Joy and bliss can be achieved by ignoring stale posts such as yours. Good day

@aq do you know what bills are? They typically are due once a month.
How does one make anything Great Again by running away in the face of adversity?
Don’t be a coward and run away, and by all means Dont Be a Yugo

@aq You’ve waited several months to step forward. You’ve found your moment to shine. And all you’ve come up with is “start your own business if you’re so unhappy”. Perhaps you had a second choice you passed on? At any rate, you’re obviously a new internet user. Best of luck with future posts.

What we have here are not leaders. They would not get promoted at any other company.
They stay because they have no place to go.
Don’t Be A Yugo
I Don’t Want Your Loyalty
I Remain Unapologetic
Who’s Gonna Feed You Applesauce
10 Toes Down
Who in their right mind would find that nonsense inspiring?

I know it’s shocking, but leaders used to actually value their workers and their opinions. They would listen to their struggles and try to make things better. Unfortunately now it’s just a lords and serfs mindset.
