I think I am safe

I heard from the back end that critical areas will not be touched in this round of layoffs

I thought my husband was safe, but if they're laying off SOC R&D, I don't think anyone is safe. ... And no severance. (Does anyone know if the company will provide ANY benefits? COBRA even?)

Fun Fact: Wafer Starts calls everything after their step the 'backend'.

It's all a matter of perspective.

I don't believe OP should continue to watch Ace Ventura over and over again, and that he should try breath mints.

If you have a good relationship with your manager or director, they will give you some hint, I knew two of my friends were told by their manager "there is a risk they will be ..." so some managers certainly know who "might" be affected. If you are not, don't need to change job with pay cut

@as
There are back-ends to both FAB and Assembly. When I was in FAB backend was everything metal layers and wafer finish all the way to DIE-Prep. In assembly it's everything after package assembly. Test/Real/Finish. So the question ❓ Which Backend?

All jokes aside.... And there are some good ones here.
Back End may not refer to a shift. There is an entire flow called "Back End". Lost of test development done there. You cannot ship a unit without going through the "Back End".

And, yes, I know exactly what it sounds like. I'm chuckling to myself too 😆

20% across all functions, if you aren’t liked they make the CSM work and you are gone regardless
