I heard from the back end that critical areas will not be touched in this round of layoffs

I thought my husband was safe, but if they're laying off SOC R&D, I don't think anyone is safe. ... And no severance. (Does anyone know if the company will provide ANY benefits? COBRA even?)
Watch your backend...you might feel something sharp or large.
I'm marking myself safe, currently in Calgary via Bangkok. Please say "hi" to AstroGlide man!
I am safe because I watch Netflix most of the nigh.
@e9 I am safe because I can take 4 hours breaks.
Don't listen to your back-end as it will only talk sh-t to you
I am a critical tech. No one can pencil whip a checklist as fast as me.
Fun Fact: Wafer Starts calls everything after their step the 'backend'.
It's all a matter of perspective.
@dv Alrighty Then
I don't believe OP should continue to watch Ace Ventura over and over again, and that he should try breath mints.
@d0 that means your whole team is gone
Watch out for the bootie bandit... the whispers are true!
I don't believe OPs back end is safe.
If you have a good relationship with your manager or director, they will give you some hint, I knew two of my friends were told by their manager "there is a risk they will be ..." so some managers certainly know who "might" be affected. If you are not, don't need to change job with pay cut
My boss in F11 said she wasn't asked to rank her team. Am I safe?
Only def met are truly safe
The intel bloat is every function. 30% more heads will need to be eliminated in9 mos.
@as
There are back-ends to both FAB and Assembly. When I was in FAB backend was everything metal layers and wafer finish all the way to DIE-Prep. In assembly it's everything after package assembly. Test/Real/Finish. So the question ❓ Which Backend?
All jokes aside.... And there are some good ones here.
Back End may not refer to a shift. There is an entire flow called "Back End". Lost of test development done there. You cannot ship a unit without going through the "Back End".
And, yes, I know exactly what it sounds like. I'm chuckling to myself too 😆
What makes information from the back end shift correct or more relevant?
Back end test?
So, you heard it from the horses a-s?
"back end" = a-s
20% across all functions, if you aren’t liked they make the CSM work and you are gone regardless
Give it a week.
What s the backend?
@OP what are these critical areas?
