RTO - what a joke

Remember all that commotion when RTO was announced?
Look at it today....is there even anyone who goes to the office 3x a week?

Quick question for SAP Munich employees:
I have been recently hired as a fresh graduate a couple of months ago. The hiring manager mentioned that I need to be in the office for 2-3 days per week. I do not live in Munich as the rents are very high. I am living in a small village near Ingolstadt and would like to check with you if there is a shuttle service or carpooling facilities available for Garching office? The current commute from Ingolstadt Main station will be around 2 hours one way or 4 hours in total. That office is literally 30-40 minutes from Munich and in the middle of nowhere near TuM. Earlier the office was near Munich Main train station.
Does anybody have any recommendations on how to make the commute easy for people who don't live near or in Munich? Thank you!

Always do what the board says. The SAP board is a group of genius managers. Trust them. Follow them. Obey them.

@e0+1jyhc0frt It was never about improving work morale or "collaboration". My former employer implemented RTO mandates right before they sacked large quantities of their departments. It was about driving attrition so people resign without severance. If laws enabled people to resign and get automatic retirement pay employers would be s***ing their pants left right centre. My director at that time, sat me down and tried sacking me if I didn't go back to the office. But the other colleagues (one lady who was with the company for 18 years and the other an Indian boomerang employee), never came to the office and were treated better than myself.

Simply put, don't go, don't attend, don't listen.

@c9 Yes, there is an SAP Labs location in Dublin, also offices in Galway and Belfast. Overall about 2.5k employees across a huge range of LoBs.

Is it asking too much for people to obey the board? The SAP board is fantastic. Employees should trust the board and do what they are told.

In my country it is illegal to fire people using badge data. Because it is not a performance driven reason and due to privacy issues. We are now pushing to make remote work a fundamental legal right. Too many CEOs pushed their luck and things are going bite back hard.

Trust the board. When the board says RTO, go to the office. The board knows best.

The Dublin office is pretty busy, and people come in two or three days a week, depending on their team. I heard that compliance is checked through network access.

Simple, DO NOT GO. Nobody is going in and people don't have to.

Toronto office here......almost empty most days. Absolutely no way people come in 3x a week.
Agree with previous response.....nothing is ever checked by management. It's always the vague notions of "trust everyone does the right thing"..... right!

Yes I am based in St. Leon Rot in Germany and most people are in Tuesday-Thursday, maybe not every week but more often than not. I think it is the same in most DEV teams in Walldorf. But you are correct in the sense that there is no control or consequences if you do not comply.
