I find it interesting that at least 3 post topics which call out derogatory language used in other posts/comments have been seemingly removed in the past month, yet the posts/comments with the language remain.
Most of the indicated rhetoric seems to be broadly anti-Indian, SE Asian, or foreigner. But I have also seen language which is degrading towards women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and/or POC.
It's pretty disgraceful and discouraging that any of our colleagues could hold opinions which are hateful towards others for their appearance, nationality, gender, or orientation. There are plenty of ways to air our opinions without bringing in that. The fact that others appear to dismiss it as benign is almost as bad.
I'm sure this post will be removed too. But I think it's important to continue to call it out. I hope others who feel the same and see this before it gets taken down are encouraged to do the same. Remember, hate flourishes when ignored. Bring it to the light and call it what it is.
