Thread regarding Ford layoffs

People are so naive

Do you really think hacking a few screens is going to make a difference when it comes to RTO? The decision has been made. The only way to avoid it is to quit, which is most likely exactly what they’re hoping will happen. That’s it. This kind of performative rebellion is useless.

All of this for a smile, sad. People talk about pettiness, but the kid left more than a year ago. Conformity and cowardice, none of it fits him. It’s a cheap shot to keep circling someone who’s already gone. After a year of piling on, what’s left to prove?

@55x

Kid still there? 1st mistake. Pettiness, lack of accountability, and harassment? Standard Operating Procedure. You work with conformity and cowardice. Dont forget that.

Was reading back on this - Some are not wanted because of their failure to do the right thing. I’m guessing those are the ones who rely on others’ naivety to persecute coworkers and become upset when their deception is discovered. I did some research and came to the conclusion that what happened to the kid is unforgivable. People should be counseled and given a policy manual before being allowed to willingly traumatize others. Reporting in bad faith without full context, mobbing, using process as punishment, monitoring others, creating a hostile work environment that leads to documented problems, and retaliating against those who report real issues with tangible impacts are all policy violations. My friend mentioned some others that the kid is likely suffered from, but this list is off the top of my head. I hope accountability returns for him one day.

No one remembered who invented Tuesday, but by the time the toast started speaking Latin, it was too late to change the schedule. The philosophers held a symposium about it in a room with no walls. Everyone agreed it was a bold architectural choice until the wind won the debate.

A man named Dr. Pomegranate claimed the toaster was conscious. His proof consisted of four crumbs arranged in the shape of the word “maybe.” The university gave him a grant to explore further ambiguity.

Across campus, a rival scholar proposed that the toaster wasn’t alive, merely deeply aware of being plugged in. This distinction divided the faculty into two factions: the Ontologists and the Ones Who Just Wanted Breakfast.

Soon the toaster began grading its own papers. It awarded itself a PhD in Warmth and Minor Burns. The faculty applauded. A pigeon was hired as adjunct faculty to teach “Applied Crumbs.”

When asked for comment, the Dean of Nothingness said, “Existence is a hallway with no doors, only signs pointing to the gift shop.” Everyone clapped because no one wanted to look confused.

By the end of the semester, the toaster had resigned in protest of overinterpretation. It left a note that read, “I was never the metaphor — you were.” No one knew what it meant, but the university printed it on mugs anyway.

@pm Was that a typo? Should I replace the t with ss in pit?

‘You just have to ask’ easier said than done when the past already feels heavy. Sometimes asking feels like digging deeper instead of fixing anything. Curious how you’d tell the difference. What do you think happened, this wasn’t evil.

@d5 I worry about my future, not the company. The company is just a pit stop in my career and I do not give a damn about its future.

@OP. Naive? Nah! They are cheering because someone did make it clear to managers by flipping the finger publicly.

Many coworkers have asked tough questions about RTO, and managers cannot answer them, just parroting "RTO is mandated fron the top". There is no pushing back RTO until the company fires the C-suite. Still, is nice to see someone breaking the rules to say what we all are thinking: F RTO. That's why we are all cheering for this guy.

As a professional, I won't do anything like it, even if I am marked for layoffs. I am betting many of my coworkers are in the same boat with me. I am not going to risk my career for a job where I am not wanted anymore. The best would be to leave and never look back. That's the professional approach (it is business, not personal). However, watching the hacked screens just reminds me of my youth and those rebellious years.

@d5+1k6vwvbj6 Yes, we're in the office for decades, but I never saw this hotelling cr@p before at Ford. People are complaining more about the RTO conditions than over actually working at the office.

@d5 the issue isn't going back, the issue is this horse cr-p hoteling BS. You want me to go back, fine, give me my office back so I don't have get here at the crack of dawn to get a pathetic rent a desk.

@d5 "start worrying about the company's future". I agree 100% that way you have NOTHING to worry about as there is no future! BRILLIANT advice!

@d5

Are you a LL+ rank? You just dont get it do you (and I'm not surprised)?

The whole covid wfh situation proved non-site dependent workers with a laptop do not need to be in the office to do their jobs and do it effectively. And oh I know, smarty pants people like you will say "so and so had a side hustle" or "so and so wasnt doing any work" and blah blah blah. You know who's fault that is, the lousy LL6's like you! Do YOUR job and fire those people or at min put them on PIP. Stop being a pushover. No doubt these same people are still clowns who goof around during an RTO day too. Do something about that! And it was going on before covid if you opened your closed eyes. Get real pal.

If you dont agree, then SHOW US THE RTO DATA as was asked for in the chat that everyone saw during the townhalls to the brilliant know it all leaders.

It amazes me that all this hand wringing about RTO is happening. Before 2020 coming into the office had been normal operating procedure for hundreds of years and now, everybody is losing their sh!t because the company (along with numerous other industries) want to go back to the way it was and the way it worked. STOP YOUR F-ING WHINING!!!!!! Parking will get fixed in time. Hoteling is a fad that will go away or at least be modified. Stop complaining about things that are beyond your control and start worrying about the company's future.

I have heard more than enough of this childish BS! Either go back into the office or quit!

@OP It may not make a difference to Mr (Know it All) Farley but to the outside world people will start to ask questions. It is a start.. Already seeing news articles from WS on how the company is paying dividends from their war chest vs true value. Morale at an all time low do to leadership that is clueless and never takes accountability for their decisions. Sorry but the BOD and Senior management must go.

I DON'T know how new programs will be delivered when key people are laid off or no longer in the company. Ford is going into mass validation issues to address. This is what Apple guys will never understand.

Just realize that Ford is just one of MANY large companies pushing RTO, so it’s naive to think they’ll drop RTO to appease workers who oppose it. Ford knows the job market isn’t great, so most will just su-k it up to keep paychecks coming in.

You do have to admit it though; it is a clever way to come up with more parking spots and not to have to expand the lots!
