Tracking Days/Hours in the Office

Are they tracking how many hours we are in the office? Or it just the number of days?

Their (HY) mission here is to get rid of the US work force. They don't consider anything that furthers that objective as being a waste of money. They don't care about cost savings, occupancy rates, hubs, collaboration, or anything else. Nothing else matters in their minds. They will continue to hack away until Shart is relieved as CEO or we're all gone.

I track all network activity at home and my laptop consistently pings to India based WF IPs, so not sure how we think that is going to correlate to in office time...

@da
On days you have back to back meetings, you can go in to the office and do all your business on your mobile device. Teams Calls,
Chat, Outlook, Edge, Word, Excel, Workday all work on the phone.

@ct so what you're saying is that you don't need your laptop to do your job? Kind of hard to believe.

@d4 good point! the cost of being a narc! I had a co-worker that's a huge brown noser always tattling to mgr if he didn't see us in office. (that dude was recently displaced)

You seriously have to wonder here about the cost of all this tracking and micromanaging. Hours, minutes mouse clicks really. I am so glad that HR and workforce management make sooooooo much money coming up with this garbage. Managers should be able to manage their professional staff without treating everyone like they are in kindergarten. WASTE OF STOCKHOLDER MONEY AND TOO MANY ANALYTIC REPORTS THAT DO NOTHING FOR SHAREHGOLDER VALUE

@cx Correct.
I am using Teams on my mobile phone connected to ATT 4G/LTE. Tracking would show an ATT IP but I am in the office :)

because the byod software isn't sending them your location?

When I am in the office, I use my BYOD mobile phone for Teams calls.
No laptop, no IP, Badge only

IP tracking is not going to work

Yep but hours are only available to upper management. Our direct managers can only see days.

I don’t think it really should make a difference. Just take the time difference between the earliest badge swipe or IP address connection and the latest within a given day. That should be sufficient. It may cause a few false positives here and there for a given person on a given day, but if they’re only worried about the people who are repeat offenders for coffee badging then that shouldn’t really matter.

The % of admin sites where employees don't have to badge out is rapidly dwindling as we close the non-hubs. That won't be a "thing" for long.

Both. They track the # of hours and days. Days are available to all managers. Hours are available to senior leaders only at this time, but they will pass it down to lower level managers if there is a repeat offender. They track both IP and badge swipes, but they're beginning to switch over only to IP addresses (and length of time logged into those IP addresses) since not all buildings require you to swipe in and swipe out where they can record the length of time between swipes.

@OP
Both.
And they are tracking which days you are in, what color your clothes are, what frequency you aren't at your pc; how many times you are at the watercooler, the cr-pper, what you buy for lunch, etc. Next, they are rolling out how to track what your saying when your not on a teams call. All crammed into an algorithm for your next IM on your review.
