Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

How is retail store staffing ?

I work in a store in Texas and staffing is pretty thin throughout the district. Between some reps taking telesales roles and parents who have to stay home because of kids it’s a debacle. How come this was not better planned? Now anyone left in the retail stores is taking on more workload without many breaks. I can see reps getting stressed out and taking time off because of this. How is the rest of the country ?

West coast here having my cup of coffee reading all the responses. All I can say is the managers did very little or nothing to prepare for reduced staffing in the stores. Two reps in my district (southern Cal ) got fed up stressed out and took the FMLA route. More and more of this will happen as we head into holiday time and winter.

I’m a retail redeployed to Customer service rep and I have not been pushed back to the store yet! I have been pushed out until Oct. 11 as well as many others who are still redeployed!

In my area a good deal of management and sales reps have gotten telephone sales positions and others applied and expect positions. We've also had an increased number of people quitting. Call outs are on the rise as people are frustrated as everyday is like going to get beaten up by customers. A few Sundays ago we had one manager in one rep working. Thin is an understatement

A management shuffle is almost a guarantee for a few reasons. First off within each district there are SM ‘s who applied for telesales roles. If one manager leaves it always flips the whole district. Why that always happens is ridiculous. Secondly you have SM’s that are parents who may be out for a 3-4 months. Most DM’s will panic but then do the old “ acting manager “ trick. They will do some shuffling and make empty promises to a kool aide drinking rep for an acting manager roll. Only problem with that is it will further reduce rep head count.

I hear they are going to shuffle managers around soon. No idea why before the holidays. Also even if they hired right this minute , people won't be up or ready until next year

GM not on floor as much, SMs sitting on their bottoms getting agitated if they have to greet a customer because no SS there to do it. Shard show

It’s a matter of time before someone dies...go ahead and turn both eyes blind to retail...ie 1:1, capacity, customers being encouraged to “act” normal. Glad DM and up snug in their home office pretending to “lead”

I think the person must have made a typo....it’s 900 + spots for over 3k applicants . This does not include the ongoing interviews for WFH customer service advocate jobs as well. The retail stores have become a giant shart show. Limited staffing taking on a lot of customers all day. Recipe for disaster.

I work in a store in Virginia same issue staffing is very thin. Everybody leaving to go to telesales. We have long lines daily with two or three reps. The reps in my store are also exhausted and tired.

30k? Is that a joke? You realize that would be like every single wireless employee in America? Or do you mean including external? If so I think it's b—s— it's even open externally but even then. 30k is a total b—s— number.

Rumor on the street they r beefing up headcount one more time to make a last ditch effort to see what retail does. Final scene of Titanic.

It's almost everywhere that staffing is screwed.
