Do you think things would be different if in 2019/2020 instead of naming JD CEO they stayed internal going with either EH or ES?

absolutely would be better than where Nike is today. Would the stock have continued to appreciate? No way of knowing. But I’m certain it wouldn’t be trading in the low 40s. Both ES and EH understood what made the brand work. And while they would have brought different strengths, Nike would certainly not have imploded. And both would have checked HO early in her reign of te---r.
@cs classic! ES was FIRED for misconduct! You must be one of the frat boys!
EH wouldn’t have deprioritized retail partners, opening shelf space and the door to competitors, so the foundation would have been stronger.
However, Nike needs product innovation, strong design and marketing. I haven’t seen anything in two years to lead me to believe that he could keep growing the brand but perhaps the downfall wouldn’t have been as steep.
nothing would have changed
the US market saturated 15 years ago, the marginal gains for market entry isnt worth it for Nike as the org is so bloated, poorly managed and incompetent.
JD was the only choice as someone needed to pitch NKE as a tech stock in that era to get a tech valuation. Typical rugpull.
NKE is not a growth stock. It is a mature business operating in a bloody competitive market that is also oversaturated.
ES would have been the perfect choice as he genuinely seemed to care about the people under him and knew the business inside and out. I highly respected him as a leader.
yes.
it would have been a different world for Nike had JD not been hired and the board not allowed him to sc--w Nike over. The downfall of Nike is real a real heartbreaking.
