Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I got wind today that 5 day RTO is coming 2nd quarter of 2026

Just when the furor over 4 day RTO began to die down now this.

Was told by a reliable source and that will be no exceptions.

Freshen up those resumes.

@188 Agree, there is a lot of nonsense on this site, you have to wonder what these slackers really do all day, aside from bi--hing and moaning.

If leadership wants us in the office 5 days then there is a very good reason for this initiative. Who are the ground level employees to demand otherwise? Everyone needs to do there part to make Ford and Model e the success they deserve

Why complain? You accepted the job as an in office job. You got a few years of WFH. You saved money commuting, childcare, etc. You are not entitled to anything more. Quit whining and either show up or find something else.

This will 'make things better' next year for sure. A little collaboration goes a long way in place of therapy.

Something to inspire your kids with. The financially and physically fit escape route

Might not be that bad, I'll get a $6 chicken 5 days week - grocery bill just got slashed.

5 day RTO will lead to more people leaving. They will obtain their goal. Unfortunately it will be good people leaving. Why work in an incredibly toxic environment when there is upside? 4 days was pushing it.

@n8 why would you think RTO would equate to higher salaries?

@OP You whine about RTO as if this is not your job, as if you are not being paid, as if many, many, many other companies are not requiring the same. Yep. Also prefer work from home and yet understand they have every right to tell me need to RTO and accept this without blaming or whining.

@kt
Don't you get it? The company wants people to leave, and that's why they're doing this. There will be no higher salaries w/5 day RTO.

You got wind? You mean you got crop dusted? How did it smell, was it your own brand, are you ok?

Commuting costs money. Someone always pays.

The company will pay for this in higher salaries. It will have to be or employees will leave.

I've also heard this is coming.

As far as no exceptions, what that means is that you have to badge in 5 days a week or you will get warned up to and including eventual termination.

They must need additional collaboration on the next government subsidized project.

If it's 5 days, then they need to eliminate remote work agreements in the orgs that allow them. "Collaboration" is also laughable when people sit on Teams meetings all day as is.

I've not heard anything one way or the other, but I always thought they would go to 5 days a week in office. It started with 1-2 days a week, then 3 depending on the organization, then 4, and 5 seems inevitable.

@cn can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not. There are no “collaboration metrics”. If in-person collaboration mattered we wouldn’t have half our engineers working in other countries to save cost on salaries. Good engineering talent has slowly started to leave over RTO and it will continue to happen as long as management keeps up this trend. If you’ve actually been in the office these days you’d know the environment feels like a call center, not like pre COVID. Most engineers adapted to a hybrid or remote working relationship for collaboration during COVID, the folks begging for more time back in the office simply didn’t evolve their working practices.

There is no doubt Ford employees need to improve collaboration metrics. The 3 the 4 day RTO has shown improving, but the growth is not as expected. Returning to pre-covid era full week in office will return employee collaboration back to levels that we much achieve.

Do not read into the very few negative comments posted here. 5 day RTO is welcomed by most employees to do our part for the company transformation.

Those that are working from home are non value added employees. Ford should let them all go to the unemployment line.

It’s about time that they demanded that you get your lazy butts back into work five days a week. This is long overdue. Glad to hear it!
Now, let’s fill up that Train Station with engineers!!
