Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why not levy 26% on jobs (wages paid) outsourced to India

and Indian H1-B workers (wages) imported ?

America first? Charlie Schart’s offshoring American jobs and importing Indian workers are anti American workers ! It’s only fair that corporations also bear the costs of import tariffs! Further BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) are not our friends, why moved 40,000 jobs to India? And bring Indians here to replace American workers? These job don’t pay into our social security and contribute to our economy. For each job lost, 3 jobs also lost. Left or right, call your senators representatives and bring this to the government’s attention.

Instead of blaming foreigners for everything, u start thinking who is responsible for all these. Greedy Americans try to get toys $10 from sweat shop employing child labor. Watch the shark tank. Anything that is made here . See their profit . margin and greed. Roofing companies employ the foreigners managed by us. Business folks never agree for ur idea.

Because the wealthy wouldn't like that hit to corporate profits.

  1. Write to your representatives. They don't know anything about outsourcing.
  1. Write to the gov.

What you're missing is 'America First' is actually 'American Corporate Profits' first

My believe is that current US administration has already taken steps to devalue the dollar and it will be currency no one will go after in future. Indians work for US firm is because dollar is strong. Image the opposite. They will dump your jobs back to your a-s. Take it and enjoy. They are wasting their office space, electricity for servicing America.

@dy+1jr248053 "Trump should do something" - should but won't. Not in his interests and not was it in the Dem's interest. We are f*cked.

If Trump is to advertise America First, outsourcing should indeed be subject to a tariff. I personally know people who have been outsourced by greedy CEOs trying to boost share price. The result is shoddy work overseas by incompetent engineers. This also has caused wage deterioration. Trump should do something.

@c1+1 Because Indian managers only hire Indians in U.S. They want to offer the American Dream to other Indians.

@ck+1jr248053 - on the contrary. By taxing outsourced activities you are protecting the US labour market.

Increase the supply of workers and stagnate / depress wages

@cf+1jr248053 - yes that is acceptable. The services India gets from US are not price sensitive.

In that case, India will impose a 52% tariff on their services to the U.S. government. Is that acceptable?"

Especially since they're not paying social security on those workers.

This is a fantastic idea. Don’t get side tracked with H1 visa nonsense. That is a separate battle. Service sector is very quick to adjust.
Getting our outsourced jobs back will be a great boost to American workers within a year. These jobs coming back to US will increase local consumption, stimulating further economic activity and get us back to GDP growth in no time. Please raise this proposal with your local politicians asap.

Why not just tax billionaires? People do mental gymnastics to avoid the obvious.

Its the law that they have to pay the avg wage. However its only a limited amount of time they are in H1B visa status and they not longer need the visa. The untold corp world long term strategy is they don't want to pay software engineers 250K a year because there's only 100 of them for example, instead they will only hire Indians, after there's 500 for example with enough skill, they no longer have to pay 250k a year, they have 500 people fighting to get 75K. Its all about long term leverage against the workforce.

I have long thought this, but as another poster has said this is about driving down American wages.

I think that is a fantastic suggestion. May even slightly higher so that the cost to offshore a position cost a lot more then filling in the US. Also add in that any wages paid outside of the US can't be used as a business deduction for tax purposes.

If you look at the wages they pay to the H1-B visa jobs, they are same as US market rate. That’s the problem. The Indians are not cheaper or better (actually worse quality) that begs the question - Why?

Walk the floors state side now, some of them you would have no way of telling if you're in India or USA. They claim they need all these H1B Visa holders and their skills but that's a complete lie. They want to a increase supply side so they can push down American wages down as low as possible. So its not just outsourcing, its state side as well where they're trying to sabotage the American worker.
