Massive layoffs at the home office. 75-100 employees gone. More to come April 2nd. Terrible place to work.

I doubt that there will be layoffs in the Ivory Tower on April 2nd since the building is basically shut down. If there is a layoff it will need to be after the shelter-in-place is lifted in the state of illinois. Last I heard that was April 7th but that can change at ant time. Stay well everyone. A job is just a job but your health and life are much more important.
I hope they implode. B&N, too. I now work for an independent Bookstore, and it's hard to beat off the wolves, but we're still kicking. Coronavirus is not helping. But it would be great if campuses ran their own stores again.
Bullies, pretends he's mafia mostly, but his role is to develop savings by enforcing macro driven changes in labor dollars as a function of sales. In short, he's a leech relying on spreadsheet data to dictate labor dollars per store based on sales. rumor mill is he's going to enlarge his power by expanding his reach until hours for each store are micromanaged from above. Six figures to cause PTSD for those left behind and no an ounce of remorse.
Maybe they should outsource his job?
What does PDv do? Except dictate labor hours with no clue as to what is needed to run stores.
I have to be honest. I’ve never disliked a person quite as much as PDeV. Many years ago I got an angry call from him and the impression I got was he seems to think he’s a mobster. Maybe not a layoff but certainly a retirement is in order for the ‘big guy’ there.
DG and PdeV. Ha, ha, ha!
This is to better serve our students
NO, it's so FHEG doesn't have to pay benefits to their employees and the family can pocket more!
Responding to @cfa+13zlCey5...The change from one FT person to 2 PT 20 hour folks is meant to "enhance customer service" if my memory serves circa 2013. Glad I could clear up any confusion on this initiative.
Our region has been told to look at the opening hours of the stores and close early if prudent with the blessing of the school. We've also been told it's not likely to be permanent but seriously how many of the store staff are going to hang around to see if their hours increase? They'll look for other work & so will everyone else involved.
Way to go, Follett...what a boost for your worker's morale!
Hey! I know, what about a pointless trip to Florida? Oh, wait...😕
Micromanaging labor is exactly what they're doing. we were given x amount of dollars and we were told if you do not hit that dollar amount you will be written up. We have asked if we can open later and close down earlier and we're told no. We're not even busy at 8:00 in the morning.... We die down after 5: 00. We should be able to close at 5: 00. We could save $135 a week closing at 5: 00. We could save $270 opening at 9:00 and closing at 5:00. How on earth are we supposed to manage the pittance that they give us if we're not able to cover 10 hours a day. Oh, keep in mind no overtime. Boggles the mind.
I don't get how they can hire new people while they are laying people off?
New people hired in finance area a few months after laying off half the dept, Follett is shady at the least.
They’ve put it down now to micromanaging labor from the ivory tower’s spreadsheets for the stores. From the top down you are expected to have 100% compliance, this is from JH. If your labor calls for 0.00 you absolutely must hit that level. Or else. For myself, I’m about to become a statistic. Wouldn’t say it was fun, but it was something.
How can people doubt this when the town hall meeting had leadership telling us 50 plus million will be cut from the budget. They cannot cut that much without cutting many people.
Again, how is this not known through the company? WHAT departments were hit?
For all of those thinking that this is not going to be happening, it is.. If you are making x amount of dollars and have been with Follett for a long period of time they are going to offer them early retirement and a 15-week severance. They are really trying to get rid of a lot of full-time people and replace them with part-timers. This way they do not have to pay out benefits, vacation, sick leave. They can work two people 20 hours a week and it costs them nothing. I was one of those folks laid off in November and I was lucky enough to apply for another position. Yes it seems stupid that I did that, to stay with this company but I need my benefits. I am now currently going back to school and I will not be with this company very much longer. It's a means it's to an end.
That worked so well for development, glad to see 5 years later no original thoughts, leadership still using the 2013 Accenture study
IT QA and Project Management is being outsourced.

Of course. If everyone does 10% more we can easily fill the void.
More for the family and just a little more from you .
You're lucky you kept your job!
Departments please. We know they have names, they have lives and families. But this gives some sense of where the work load will increase. Is that too harsh? No. The departed aren’t forgotten. But the parasites at the top will demand the work continue magically, and ‘across the board’ doesn’t help. Be safe, but be specific.
Is this from the same troll who brought all the garbage before & then came back to gloat saying they never even worked at Follett?
Is this true? That many people still work there? I thought it was only vps, svps, etc who worked there now
They're getting rid of the people who make the most money and who have been there the longest. Experience gets you nothing at this company.
All the very best to those who were let go. You didn’t deserve this.
What areas??? Funny how no one has heard this.
More lives destroyed....
From which departments?
