Hows about not lying about talking about unions?
More importantly, the VAST majority of people effected by this are not people that unions can help. In nearly every industry unions are in, supervisory and managerial employees are specifically excluded from unions because their job is to promote the interests of the company; and unions are for the interests of workers.
So nobody is talking about getting fired.
The law is very clear about how and where and when organization can occur. On the clock, on company property is prohibited. It’s possible everyone commenting here hasn’t clocked in today but also highly probable someone on the clock has seen it.
So what you going to do about it - us on the clock? It's PROHIBITED!!!!
Nobody said anything about getting fired.
The law is very clear!
VERY CLEAR!
OH NO! THE LAW IS VERY VERY VERY CLEAR!
What sad punks...
Yeah, and if you get caught you may get fired! Oh Lord NOOOOOOO!
Is that all you got?

Just the fact that a union is being discussed here during work hours could jeopardize any efforts.
Nonsense.
Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear.
Thanks James Family!

The NYC employees were part of the Union with the school. They’re “contract” employees through the school with Follett. Not the same.
NYC stores have union workers. Maybe we can join it?
You’re not going to get 30-50% of those employed by the company to agree/vote to start one. Best of luck though.
And if you try to do anything on the clock or on anything considered company ground, it’s not legal.
A union is badly needed here, but is very hard to obtain in retail. It’s risky. Most of the time people get fired immediately if they suspect you’re trying, but if it’s something you really wanted to do just google how to start a union in retail. You need some interest from some co workers around you that you trust. Look at similar situations with Starbucks and Amazon. It’s a process, but would be great if it could be achieved. Would be protected when this company inevitably changes hands, which is proving to be quite soon. You need to be discreet though. Good luck.
James River cannot stop a union. Go for it.
For the people who are still here it might help them out.
Good luck.
They would squash this in 15 minutes.
Even if it’s late the costs to fight it and legal irritation to follett would be a joy to watch
Not too late for whomever is staying
- little late for that
- you don’t
