Thread regarding SAP layoffs

How many of you actually think you'll be retiring from SAP?

Are you still planning to retire from SAP, or has that changed? I sure don't.

We have only two kinds of colleagues at SAP: (1) those that joined as working students and are friends of friends of the executive board and will never leave and (2) newcomers through new acquisitions or recent joiners. Everyone in between has already left or will be fired in subsequent rounds starting from April 2025

People who have recently joined the company, I would question why they are still with SAP with how things are being handled lately. But for those of us who have been here for 20 years and over, it's all about the severance package. There's no way I'm about to give that up after being here that long.

I'm not sure it makes sense to use the words "retire" and "SAP" in the same breath.

The company owes me stock options, and I plan to hang around to let them vest and for the health insurance until they expel me or I reach 67 - whichever comes first.

SAP won't even have any employees in my country in 30 years. They will all be in low cost countries like India.

My retirement plan is a rope.

@cbh+1uuui3U6 who in their right mind would ever think that a corporation cares about its employes. You are there to profit the company and it's shareholders if you belive otherwise then you are naive. Do not forget that you are just a little cog that can be replaced or removed entirely and the machine will still run.

I am 60 and thought I’d be retiring from SAP - I was the oldest person on a 74 member team - and the only one targeted for layoff.

The only reason long timers are staying is the severance or verp package potential and then find something else. Why not make a little extra on the way out.

Are you serious???

Just think of the amount of turnover at the Board and CEO level we have had in the last 10 years. It's hard to even remember who was on our board in 2014 because there has been so much change.

When I look around my own team, at least 50% ( and probably a lot more) who were here 10 years ago are gone.

Too much competition driving talent out and too much competition forcing SAP to tighten down it's payroll.

i already left. u may think ur being loyal by staying but trust me when i say that sap doesnt care about u or anyone else. two of my friends used to say good things about sap. i guess they thought being company ppl would save them. it didnt.
