I work in IDT and the “talent” there has to redo everything 3-5 times. Or it takes 3 people to do one of our jobs. Which is still cheaper than one American, until you start looking at the wasted time.
I suspect they are now looking at time value of money. Plus AI. India looks to have a bleak future for outsourcing.
@cm I never worked with the subsurface, but I worked with TAO/TAS and it was basically the same thing. If we had anyone who was somewhat competent they would be gone in 6 months and we would get an equivalent to a G grade, which meant they were basically useless. I spent more time explaining to them what to do and having them rework the item 3-5x that it would have been cheaper and quicker if I just completed the tasks.

As someone who worked with this "subsurface talent", I can assure you that Shell is not at risk of losing any talent. They are imposed on other OUs so leaders can say we are saving money, but they don't contribute anything of value, just waste everyone's time. It's about time they moved to real jobs and actually did anything.

Reliance will not be taking any of the upstream people so it could get interesting for them. They are indeed many . . . but maybe too many?
