Thermo fisher/ PPD Layoffs of Older Workers

Wow! The last layoffs were very heavy with older workers. TF/PPD is so unethical!

@bxg I suspected they would sell PPD or at least CRG and keep labs. You never know with this company. It’s not the same anymore for sure.

I was laid off 2 years ago. After 20+ years with PPD. It is not the company any more I worked for. Yesterday they did also lay off managers in FSP. All 40 or 50+ with family, worked 10+ years for the company. They will see how far they come with that. the lack of success in FSP is caused by top management mistakes. The way they are reducing workforce is deeply unethical. A shame! A CRO is the sum of experienced people working at it. Sponsors did recognize that the quality is lacking. TF will sell PPD fairly soon - I am sure - after they ruined a previosly very successful CRO.

This is a not-so-friendly reminder from Thermo - the company doesn’t care about you. The workplace isn’t your meaning in life and it isn’t your family. You’re a number to these entities, and no amount of loyalty and sacrifice will convince them otherwise. Go to your kid’s soccer game, take your wife on a nice date, be around for your family. End of the day, that’s what matters. Don’t sacrifice more than the bare minimum for the shareholder.
