How worried should the personal bankers be? I know we have a high turnover rate but we are really the front line when it comes to customer service - all the lay-off talks have me fearing that I will be laid off.

letter for branch closing in October...
You would probably have heard by now if your branch was closing this year. But that doesn't mean it might not close next year sometime. We just got a letter in mail that local WF branch is closing, but its also a few blocks down the road from another one that will remain open.
I mean they are training us to train customers to do our jobs. Digital Digital Digital. Branches will be closing. Keep an eye on what they are doing to the branch. If you see them fixing things that have been broken for years that’s a big red flag.
I’m thinking the same first answer, as posted by @bsu, applies. WFC’s concept of “stores” and cross-selling ultimately failed. Bank branches in general are becoming obsolete. I would liken it to selling suits at Brooks Brothers. That doesn’t mean you can’t use your experience as a teller or a banker to get a different/better job though. People still need financial services and advice, just with a more modern approach. Best of luck to you.

You’re only as safe as you’re branch remaining open. For now. Eventually you’ll be eliminated due to technology. So I’d say near 100% guaranteed you’ll lose your jobs within 5 yrs.
