Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T turns its employees toxic

Just look at this board. I've checked others, and while trolls show up everywhere, AT&T stands out for the amount of hostility, insults, and personal attacks that go nowhere. And I get it. Stay here long enough and the place wears you down. People end up jaded, bitter, and unhappy. It's sad, but not surprising.

What a bunch of immature, whiny, complainers on this site. Get a life, do your job, or quit! No one is making you stay here and certainly don’t care about your miserable, ignorant opinions.

Baby, can't you see I'm calling?
A guy like you should wear a warning
It's dangerous, I'm falling
There's no escape, I can't wait
I need a hit, baby, give me it
You're dangerous, I'm loving it
Too high, can't come down
Losing my head, spinnin' 'round and 'round
Do you feel me now?
With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under
With a taste of a poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do
Don't you know that you're toxic?
It's getting late to give you up
I took a sip from my devil's cup
Slowly, it's taking over me
Too high, can't come down
It's in the air and it's all around
Can you feel me now?
With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under
With a taste of a poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do
Don't you know that you're toxic?
Don't you know that you're toxic?
Taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under
With a taste of a poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under (toxic)
With a taste of a poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
Intoxicate me now with your lovin' now
I think I'm ready now, I think I'm ready now
Intoxicate me now with your lovin' now
I think I'm ready now

“In Dallas, reading and laughing while taking A DUMP.”

Also in Dallas taking a dump. 4th floor is all I will say. That and this board is my guilty pleasure. Employees take life too seriously. Leave, stay, it’s all the same. It’s a giant cog in the wheel of the machine, that crushes as it turns. Live and rest easy for today is all that matters.

"What are YOU doing to help change the culture? Anyone can complain and whine."

Anyone can also pretend like the culture is fine too. There's a reason the employee survey was never public. There's a reason for the drip-drip-drip layoff approach. Leadership is afraid to cut too deep and be sc--wed, but in reality, the drip-drip-drip approach is the d-mbest strategy. Just ask Elliott!

If YOU honestly think the culture is fine, you must be on the 4th or 5th floor at HQ. You're in a bubble. Do some skip-level meetings. Ask for honest feedback. Promise you won't hear - hey, all is well my man! You'll hear "I can't make my kids after school activities without being told I'm on a report. I join 8 meetings a day and then expected to work after hours because of said meetings and constant powerpoint deliverables. We are the leader in creating powerpoints that don't do jack squat.

I'd love to hear how YOU are changing the culture. My guess is it's not working. Just a hunch. XOXO

Bad metrics drive bad behavior. Like the Bell days, don't steal, don't be late, don't call out sick is what mattered the most. I have had no goals shared with my team, all they care about is RTO. Sad as some of us will care till the lights go out.

Honestly think bc this board is pretty active (since C-Suite stay trippin') it attracts bots/trolls/whatever you want to call them. There are some posts and comments that almost certainly are from people who don't even work for T, they just want to stir up drama.

So while T makes its employees bitter, there are some outliers joining in, too.

Be sure to rake the company over the coals when the ENPS Survey comes out in June. Regardless if the questions are referencincg my organization or not, I am going to hammer them.

“ Companies get the workforce they deserve. Build out for call centers, get call center employees. Incentivize presence over productivity , presence is what you get. Incentivize sales fraud? You guessed it.”

Under appreciated post. This is 1000% true and it’s something I have brought up in written questions in town halls which never get addressed.

It’s pretty simple. Stupid policies generate stupid results.

These ‘leaders’ tout all the progress made in the last few years cleaning up their messes yet all employees get out of it are more draconian and stupid work rules, constant layoffs, gaslighting, forced relocation (to keep your job) and oh yeah, somewhat decent bonuses and maybe breakfast during ‘employee appreciation week’.

They don’t trust and to be honest, have borderline contempt for the people whose work has made them millions personally through the stock recovery.

Of course that breeds anger.

I think it goes back to a complete 180 on our strategy. For years the leaders would make you feel stupid if you didn't believe in what DTV and Time Warner deals were going to do for us. Do you all remember all the townhalls when Xandr was going to save us all? What a joke. And then an activist investor called leadership out and they completely changed course. Unraveling all of that and shaking the confidence we had in our leaders (yes, those in place now were mostly all part of it!) is one part. But to then point the finger at the employees saying you aren't doing enough to fix this. Blaming in-office presence now as the culprit and tracking your every move down to the minute. And they simply can't figure out how to do layoffs correctly. If you make employees wonder if they will have a job every 2 months, yeah, it's going to create a toxic environment. Everyone out for themselves and backstabbing as much as possible for a connection award.

I mean seriously, what did they expect to happen with the culture? It's been a master class in how to sc--w it up and do 90-95% of the wrong steps along the way. Shout out to Xandr!

It’s because they took every what not to do to your employees and are doing it. For example, you want to do 1 layoff not 5-6 per year depending on your BU. You don’t micromanage adults. You don’t say oh 3 days is great, uh now 5 days, uh now hour days, whoops now we are tracking you.
