Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

AMA with Gordon

"I cannot promise you stable employment in top performing companies such as Cisco, but we want top performing employees who will stay and care about making an impact on the company" ???

The AMA was a giant gaslighting word salad

Technical skills and the people who have them are compensated poorly at Cisco and valued very little. A person who can BS, who can self-promote with lots of in vogue AI buzzwords is very highly valued. Cisco’s problem is that nearly everyone is the latter these days. Now, do you consider that nuts at a company that sells technical solutions?

@bp
don't listen if an individual says they are an:

  • AI leader
  • AI expert
  • served on a panel for AI
  • leads an AI team
  • is on an AI team

It's 100% likely they are very far from that.

The only true AI leaders (I personally know only one) started working on AI 20 years ago.

Not after a 6 week bootcamp.
Not after any type of "upskilling" bullsh-t.
Not even after CS courses.

Self-promotion in terms of utilizing the terms "leader" and "AI" is always something to side-eye now because it's a LOT of bs.

@bw promoting individuals based on personal relationships or favors rather than merit, skill, or technical background undermines professional integrity. This can lead to incompetent leadership, reduced morale, and potential liability for the organization as projects fail and $$$$ is lost.

Seems to be VERY quid pro quo. Ask how I know.

@bq if you are a giant Cisco di-ksucker and sell your mind, body and soul to overlord chuck, you should at least have more stability in your employment than billy bob that can just about use a computer wouldnt you think ??? not at Cisco

Even street wh--es are usually exempt from layoff from their p1mps; if they produce. The exception is Cisco.

WTF did you want him to say, "Sure, I'll guarantee your employment" ?

If you want guaranteed employment, go work for the gov't or otherwise get subsidized by it.

A bunch of rehearsed sh--e. They tell you nothing other than “we’re leaders in AI” or some equivalent nonsense.
