Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Don't think you're safe

Please don’t get lulled into a false sense of security thinking this is over. The sad fact is that we no longer have job security. It doesn’t matter how long any of us have been here or how much value we bring every day. All that matters is that they want to keep cutting costs, and if the numbers fit, you’re gone.

@a5 "For the company we are now 100% numbers on a spreadsheet to be reduced." What? No no no. We're plaque! To be brushed away regularly. Is that less impersonal? Who knows.

@mj
Your response defintely falls into the category of…. Things that shouldn’t have to be said, but need to be said over and over again! Thank you!

as a female employee in the states i always wondered whether or not i would be laid off or violated first. the answer relies on your definition of violated. i suppose.

@ds Unfortunately I agree. No one is safe.

Not even CK-Fan. Su-king up does not help either.

We can only hope for the best. A horrible situation.

@dh I understand your sentiment, but I do not think there is a lot we can do to improve our safety. Not at this point in time.

Sorry.

Does it improve my chances to stay if I praise the board in the survey?

I will do anything to be safe.

@OP Did anyone really think you were ever safe? SAP laid off 4000 of us in 2019 during a restructuring process.
Don’t ever sit back no matter what company you work for. You are always just a number despite your efforts.

Our senior leadership were visibility angry when they shared the results of last survey, we've even were told to leave SAP if we weren't happy and not to fault them as leaders. This survey I am not going to even bother answering. They have a target on the number of responses and I am not going to help them. As per the comments, they are worth nothing, I've hold roles close to leaders in the past and leaders didn't do a single thing rather than making calculations and trying to guess who answered what. If I am still here by when the survey is launched, I am going to ignore the email and the 200 reminders I'll receive after.

@as you only have these meetings if the direct managers receive extremely negative feedback, otherwise as you said, the feedback about the command the board... doesn't drive any behavioural change. However, we can at least state the truth and not helping them with painting a false "all is great" picture.

@a8 I think people just figured out that Surveys doesn't have any impact on company's behavior so they just give HR the response they want and at least you have peace.

If it happens that your team has bad results in the survey your manager will be under the spot and you'll go for endless meetings investigations who's answered what, not directly but you quickly understand the goal of the meetings : just to make you feel bad and warning the team that if anything bad happens to the team (less money, less projects...etc) it will be because of bad results in the survey...

So the bottom line, surveys are just self congratulations

In the spring of 23, I was part of a team in very special circumstances.

Trust in the board was a whopping 0%.

We were dispersed later, but in GE there seem to be various teams with that results in the surveys.

Not that it makes any difference, mind you.

@a7 As for the previous Unfiltered, the results will be magically painting and extremely good picture...not sure how it is possible. Even the first Unfiltered after announcing P24 (which was conveniently postponed to June) had way better results than I would expect. Unfiltered trully became a useless tool used by the board just to say: "look, we are nice. We are listening to you... even though we do not care about what you say or feel".

@a5 I am also curious about the next Unfiltered survey.

Unfortunately, it is very true. For the company we are now 100% numbers on a spreadsheet to be reduced. They do not even try to hide it anymore...what surprises me is that there are still colleagues working 12 hrs a day and weekends...for what? To be laid off in the next round?! We all have a target on our back. I am curious to see on the next few quarters how the employee motivation will be to go extramile. The layoffs cycles timelines are not even announced anymore, they just start.
