I didn’t think it would be possible but Verizon wireless has put themselves in a vulnerable position. Apparently there is a very aggressive campaign coming around starting a union and leadership is preparing for this more then ever before. Can someone seriously explain to me why VZW would be worried about retail forming a union ?

Unions are extremely vulnerable for obsolescence
About that strike fund, $200 a week for being forced to walk a picket line for 40 hours a week isn't even minimum wage. But hey good for you.
@bmd+16KqDtXK we did get paid from the strike fund that CWA has and unemployment check your facts.
Go union I’ll be a scab
I would prefer a union to protect our rights. We could have prevented the stores opening on Sunday and also got the hours to stay the same until COvid cleared. The reason why the company has so much control is because there is no union if a union was in place the commission structure could have been negotiated. There is strength in numbers until we speak up things will never change they will only get worse.
All I know is if they do away with the 1 to 1 ratio while we are still in a pandemic, sign me up and I’ll gladly promote union if my health as an employee is a non issue for corporate
Unions make it so a company is unable to compete.
With a union you get what's called a collective bargaining agreement. Meaning that they are essentially a group of lawyers or similar that look at how the company is doing. Hears the workers concerns and wants/needs. They negotiate our terms for our labor. It also can mean that the company cannot unilaterally make changes to our pay and our job descriptions without going to the bargaining table. Yes, the CWA does not do that as well for AT&T, but there are unions that are better than them. Also the union is as strong as its members.
Some VZW stores joined the union. What did it get them. Nothing. They have the same commission plan as everyone else and union stores can be closed just like non-union stores. But they paid dearly by going on strike and losing pay for 7 weeks and paying the union out of every check. Union = less money. Pretty plain and simple.
Trying to organize a union in the retail environment is extremely tricky. It goes by individual store and over 50% of those individual stores need to be unionized before all of retail is forced into a union. Most of the stores that went union in the past have been shut down breaking any sort of domino effect. The only way forming one will work is if dozens of locations voted on it at the same time.
AT&T doesn’t get paid off surveys because their union made that happen for them. Not saying we should go union, but that would be the only worth while thing, they would fight to get rid.
A union could do a lot for our commissions. While I feel the CWA is useless a good union could help.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much the union can do about commissions. Which is the issue for the most part.
Honestly I was always against it but however after being paid of surveys that say "X person was awesome but Verizon is blah blah blah" 8/10 failing. Tell me how 1-8 is a failed survey I can understand 1-7 maybe but look at yelp it's always 4.5 stars, or so that mean the bulk of people never leave 10 or 5 stars. This should be borderline illegal. Imagine working in a super trump covid denier area trying to get your team good surveys while keeping everyone safe. Look at voice dashboard and filter all the bad surverys. They are 95% about covid related polices and such. Freaking super smart verizon again hanging our health and safety over our pay and a survey.
