Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Don't make fun of Dallas yall.

Dallas gives you big-city energy without the chaos: a booming job market, no state income tax, modern high-rise living, elite restaurants, endless shopping, and a huge, diverse social scene. You get clean, well-maintained neighborhoods, wide roads, quick commutes, and easy access to airports that make national travel effortless.

The city blends Southern hospitality with a fast-growing, entrepreneurial vibe, offering major sports teams, arts districts, lakes, and year-round events—while still being far more affordable than NYC, LA, or SF.

It’s a place where you can actually build wealth, enjoy space, and still feel plugged into a major metropolitan lifestyle.

@1p8 I appreciate the neutralness in your tone and I agree, you're entitled to your perspective. But, in my opinion, the poster I was responding to was calling people illiterates b/c they used the term "y'all". This is classic Karen behavior, I don't necessarily agree that calling someone a "Karen" is inflammatory, but point taken. I still didn't appreciate the ignorance in that person's message.

@qy
unnecessary and hateful to call an anonymous Karen. maybe she is white but everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. I don’t believe this site has yet stooped that low to make racial slurs and I’m brown not white.
just trying to tone down the unnecessary hurtful emotion.

“Don’t make fun of Dallas You All” yeah, sorry, that sounds like some hick yelling at cars driving by their trailer home. We don’t say yall or y’all or you all up here.

@qd "Yall? I know the word has become more popular but YALL sound like a bunch of illiterates, like if I went around and said youse guys all the time."

Colloquialism is illiteracy now? This is what triggers you? I've been raised in the south over 40yrs and, "Y'all", isn't some new bandwagon term, it's ingrained into the vocabulary of the region. The thought that, "Youse guys" would be indicitive of illiteracy never crossed my mind, so no, your simile is inaccurate. You should probably just delete your post, Karen, as it speaks to your petty ignorance, not to everyone else's illiteracy.

Surprised you didn't put a link to your realtor page so we can see the property you're selling. I've been in Dallas for 40+ years. It has its positives and negatives like any other location...but seriously, wtf is the point of this post?

Dallas is like a big suburb, full of c rate chain restaurants. It is totally flat, hot as he11 in summer, southern accents and cow boy boots. No one is very smart there.

I love that sidewalk over by Main / Akard that is just a full sidewalk street that smells like concentrated ur1ne. you walk and walk and walk through a p1ss cloud that won't come out of your clothes all day. I wonder if thats why the att chairs all smell like that or if its something else. Yeah, Dallas is awesome. President died a mile from the office and cartels snuff out lives on a daily basis. You know its great when the cab drivers tell you to not move there, that its a h3ll hole.

Dallas is what happens when Money talks
and
Culture walks.
The most fun thing to do in town is leave.
Second most fun thing to do is plan a trip to leave.

The T complex in Dallas is wonderful, we have Golden Boy, fully restored, in the lobby and everything. What other major corporation has anything even close to that? No, AT&T is not leaving Dallas, ever, City of Dallas will bend over backwards to insure that.

Don't forget the crackheads taking dumps on the sidewalk.

Also, my high rise neighbors aren't going to like my home workshop noise or my kayak stored in the elevator lobby.

Dallas, Texas struggles with scorching summers, relentless traffic, and sprawling urban design that can feel impersonal. Its public transit falls short, making cars a necessity. Cultural spots exist, but they’re spread out, limiting walkability. The city’s rapid growth often outpaces infrastructure, creating a frustrating blend of congestion, noise, and uneven development. In short, the place is a dump
