Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Self insurance

I was injured a few years ago… and Honeywell does not have a normal procedure for on the job injuries. They have self insurance, just like Amazon.
So instead of the dept of labor, they have a way to hide their reportable injuries. And appear safe on paper. That’s honeywell.

Yes. And if you read the policy it’s like you have to lose your left eyeball on the second Tuesday of the month and not have it paid for by any other insurance. Then if you fit the criteria you get $500. Good luck fighting our attorney for it and by the way, here’s your PIP beciase you cost us money.

Veterans use the VA for insurance.

Agree with @bk.
Reporting requirements are separate from insurance. Of course with 30,000 jobs offshored over the last decades (and another 30 just cut) those reporting requirements probably range from “anything that causes time off” to “if you get around to it”.
I did some projects at the Columbia South Carolina nylon plant when it was Honeywell. Omg. There were stains on the floor under the giant machines from past accidents.
Roof collapses. Explosions. Liquid nitrogen mishaps, electrocution.. just another month for the legal team. For sure the most dangerous has to be specialty materials.. ( geismar cough cough)

I doubt that is true. You are conflating two things.

OSHA and state equivalents require reporting of workplace injuries. Regardless of who pays for the bills the injuries, they must be reported. If you are aware of injuries not being reported, send in the whistleblower complaint to the state and get paid.

The self insurance is separate, and common for large companies. It just means that instead of insurance paying the medical bills, Honeywell does. I believe this is true for Honeywell in the US for both on the job injuries and our regular medical insurance.

All that said, the injury rates I've seen in Aero are awful given the type of work done.
