Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How have external recruitment efforts been lately?

Any Wells recruiters on here?

Curious how external recruiting has gone with mandatory RTO?

Are candidates cool with this, or are they staying 'thanks but no thanks' before even getting to the interview?

Seems like before too long, Wells will only have the B squad to choose from to work here. The A squads so have already gone to forward-thinking companies.

At the time of leaving Wells I was performing at C squad (I was A squad years ago when hired). That is what working here does to you.

B Squad? We're not even getting those folks any more. The As and Bs are getting the fu-k out of town, me included.

Right now WF is the fallback for college grads who can't get on anywhere else. Whether or not CS leaves at the end of the month, we will be the dumpster fire hiring the sloopy seconds for the next decade.

@ffb+1geIYVMa I think Chuckles has hired a few of his "friends".

I have been with Wells for nearly 30 years and RTO has been a very good thing for me and for many, as far as I can tell. It is good to be face to face with colleagues.

At least in my group, candidates from CLT are bailing even before interviews.

In my experience it depends entirely on the location. In some cities it's very easy to find candidates, in others it's impossible.

Maybe not, but $30M/year will help one get over a lot of things that "don't like". I'm sure the CEO lays awake at night worrying about it.

First, WF is not GS. GS is where everyone who wants the bu-----t bravado of Wall St goes to get ready to jump for a hedge fund.

Second, yes WF hires a ton of garbage employees. Some good ones get through and wind up thriving, but more often than not it's someone's friend rather than their most qualified applicant.

Third, anyone who gets an offer then doesn't come back has used you to get a competitor to match the offer, with full-time WFH.

College student will take and done mostly anything to get started with their career. I don’t think internship population is a strong indicator.

I’ve seen 40 and younger, generally. But they also make up the largest percentage of applicants too.

"Twice recently we've had new people who accepted offers and who were supposed to come on board, but they never showed up. That is unusual.

These are not entry level jobs - these are skilled professional positions."

Curious, what demographic is doing this?

"Doubt WF has ever hired A squad people. In my decades of employment here it's usually C squad and lower. You get what you pay for."

Excluding you, of course.

@edf - Wow, it sounds like workers have the edge right now. I’m sure the elite executives don’t like this lack of control.

@klp+1geIYVMa That is a pretty big self-own. The first step to joining the A squad is to constantly learn - learn what’s being used internally and learn what’s used in industry. This is true no matter who your employer is.

I disagree there are mostly C squad here but I do believe you get what you pay for and we are paying for a lot of lazy.

We've made offers to candidates and then never heard from them again. That has been happening a lot.

Twice recently we've had new people who accepted offers and who were supposed to come on board, but they never showed up. That is unusual.

These are not entry level jobs - these are skilled professional positions.

Most of the job posting are now stating whether remote or in office location required.

Hate to break it to you but the A squad is not treated like the B squad whether it’s RTO or a host of other things.

Nearly every applicant we have had for many jobs asks if the position is full time remote or not. We also have many that ‘ghost’ us if we reply that it requires any time in the office at all.

I’m not in recruiting, but with 20% of our team’s positions open for backfilling, there are very few candidates posting (internal or external) that want to work here. One req has been open since July of 2021, and it’s an entry-level position, not something super specialized.

No one wants to work for this pathetic old company with poor-to-non-existent “leadership.”
