This place isn't concerned about risk to business or proper risk management. They are not concerned about being out of compliance for years. It's all about i need to get my score card green and what impact does this or that have on my bonus. It's the fat cats running the show into the ground then moving on to do the same elsewhere.

Getting fired for cause (which gets you no severance or warn period) is terrible advice on this job market.

@bf I've seen in my tenure C layoff people who were they only ones that did a function. Not kidding, as a couple of months later they called person to ask them to come back. Another time laid off a bunch of PMs and then wondered why there weren't any PMs to staff strategic work.

@bf and that shows another side of it, even if you are a critical resource and not in good book of your manager (basicallygot threatenedor jealous of his ownposition)..he will lay you off using this opportunity..even if things turn black box after you left (normally doesn't happen) he can just blame the layoff and buy time

Can confirm. I was consistently a 3/3 and promoted into a role last Spring. Was cut yesterday, not even a year later.

I have been stockpiling cash for my F-you fund for a decade. Finally at the point where if I get RIF'd, I can walk out the door giving my boss the middle finger. I try to make a point of surfing every day on my 2-hour lunch break and take as many calls/meetings from the beach as possible. Read the book " The four hour work week" and implement its teachings, you will have all the free time you need to enjoy life.

I somehow feel it's not true, I understand layoff at its peak but I am from a global team (of 8 people only in dev) in CAN location (managers and higher in US),other than this 4 people from Support, we have 4 BAs ..we had only 1 layoff starting from 2023,that too in BA.. It's kind of critical (don't want to name it) that could be one of the reason why we got saved this layoff ..but also I think how your managers portray the criticality matters a lot! People may think I'm lying but it's true.

This is true, 2/2 since 2021 and got 1/2 in 2020 but still got RIFed

Right now if you can earn a B-, do not even try to get a B. Ppl who are still passionately gaining an A- at this point are simply d-mb - Period, and no rebuttal accepted :)

Let the regulators to grade this firm eventually.
