Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

SVB AMA September 23

Saul's got an AMA going on this morning and right before it started he was playing Kratwerk's "We are the Robots". Considering we're having rounds of job cuts where many are being replaced with automation that seems awfully tone-deaf and insulting to employees.

What a way to signal your ethics and lack of compassion. This is the new Wells Fargo.

Did SVB sip on his Starbucks and make weird facial expressions during the AMA?

It’s kind of like buying a hellcat and then filling it up with regular unleaded.

Hey @rgd, I'm pez, sorry, please continue to complain about the same thing over and over again on a website that has nothing to do with the thing you're whining about and hope for some resolution.

It's not healthy, my dude, it's OCD.

@pez, you and your buddy don't get the point at all. There is no use in reasoning with either of you - as someone pointed out in another post. You and he are part of the problem at WF as well.

The biggest irony with automation is that, if all management is doing is determining who to lay off, that could easily be accomplished by an algorithm.

Why are we paying Saul or Charlie to do that?

@cle, I am in IT, I have been for a long time, and yep, Wells has some issues with talent, in management especially.

This is a layoff website, not HR.

And you constantly whining about some person that you clearly have a personal issue with is not healthy, my dude.

Does he get permission to play this music in a venue such as this? Curious what legal has to say.

I think they should fire the guy that makes these new popular music playlists. They are not appropriate. Saul should just automate it and play something off Spotify. It is prob the same loser who picked all car songs for town halls in auto and thought himself a genius.

@uev, and you look like you know nothing about technology! And again, no whining here... Just stating hard, cold facts. The reason why WF is sinking is because you and others ignore a major issue that is staring at you right in your face. You don't even have to go digging.

Why don't you stop your whining? That is exactly what you are doing!!

Ah, man, not the "tellers are running IT" guy again.

Dude, almost everyone in IT used to do something else.

Some of us ran a business, some of us were in marketing, some of us worked as servers in restaurants back when restaurants were a thing.

I say this as a friend, stop whining, you make yourself look bad.

@bdb, that's because you have tellers with no technical knowledge running software development teams!! Seriously. They are not in the business or QA or production support - they are managing software development teams!! Do you think they know s___ about anything technical? No! They are just frauds that got in to WF over 20 years ago (through friends) and bullied their way into their position and use everyone who is technical to try to appear somewhat knowledgeable. When you have tellers and also admins (no kidding) running the show, there are issues!!!!

The more they overtake the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drain.

@vrq is correct.

Everytime we build a new system in IT, we have to use workarounds to make it function.

Most of the old systems never go away, because the new systems don't work 100%, and the ones they do shut down cause more workarounds on the new system.

No one wants to admit that we need to start from scratch with everything, and since we're top down, getting a manager to admit their new system if a massive fail is impossible.

@jpu+1754MVFy - you're not wrong. Just did a refi through Rocket at lower rates that I get as a WF employee. Eights days from doing the paperwork through the notary coming to my house for the closing yesterday.

you can automate anything at wf with manual work arounds. Isn't that what should be said. Throw it into production before its ready just to say we automated but then have manual work arounds to fix all the automated mistakes.

Get with it folks. Automation is a good thing. It s—s to be the manual labor that is replaced but it's needed to compete.

Why is it that I can get a mortgage closed in 30 days at Quicken, Cardinal, and other places but takes almost 60 to get it done at wells?

Yeah, not sure who controls the playlists for the hold music before call – but Styx "Mr Roboto" came up on another call. Maybe it's a special "Robots Are Coming" Playlist?
