Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Previously laid off and have tips

Get all personal files off computer now (it will be difficult to get back).

Get receipts if you need them.

Early morning is when invite is sent for a 15 minute meeting. They all title it differently but it will be to the effect of a conversation or touch base. HR can be on the invite and some cases they receive a separate invite.

You will have roughly 15 minutes after the meeting before they deactivate you.

Access to pay stubs will come later so you can download them now or later.

They will tell you in the conversation the details. Make notes.

If you have been through this, help one another out. Add tips below. Good luck to everyone. All jobs are just a JOB. Do not let it define you.

Today I got a call letting me know a few people were let go from our team and that there would be more people impacted in our larger org. How do we know who is left once it’s over? Does leadership let you know who was let go or is it all gossip/through the grapevine? Who has survived layoffs before and knows out this works?

If you work in tech sign up for Blind before you lose access to your company email.

If you’ve been here 5 years you, and your immediate family, get swoosh for life. But you can’t submit any changes once you’re gone.

Reach out to your sister, brother, momma.. get their emails and get their employee pricing locked in.

Not sure having a folder on your desktop for personal files to be retrieved after you are laid off is a good idea.
I would think having a BOX folder and making note of that url would be more accessible and easier to get to after a lay off.

@rjt stfu. Do you really think our machines and services aren't loaded with DLP software? Any anomaly will trigger an alert with NCDC.

If you really do have personal files on Nike hardware that do not exist anyplace else I would do the following today: Make a "Personal Files" folder on your desktop and collect everything there. Then create a BOX folder and invite yourself on a personal email to join that BOX folder. Transfer the files to your own computer.

While this might be technically against the published rules you are being upfront and transparent in your actions. It would be hard for criminal charges to stick in this case. You may however be putting severance at risk.

Echoing DO NOT download files off your computer as it is against policy and it will automatically trigger an alert. Instead, create a folder on your desktop that says "personal files" and put everything in that folder. This makes it extremely easy for Nike to get your files to you after your departure. Good luck everyone.

Other tips would be helpful, such as:

Do I need to go to the tech bar to get all the Nike sh*t off my personal phone?

What do we do with our ESPP?

@sao+1r6P7C3y there is literally no such thing as a "personal file" on a Nike device.

Plugging USB drives, emailing files to your personal email or uploading them to your personal cloud accounts are all tracked and will be detected. Having said that, there are technical ways to duplicate your computer files without detection. Google is your friend if you decide to take that route.

@sao+1r6P7C3y Don’t be an a--hole or an id--t. And read the policy you signed. No files can be removed from your laptop without permission, personal or otherwise. Anything you do on Nike computers , they own.

@bba+1r6P7C3y You took the training. Literally NO FILES can be removed without permission,

I asked for my CFEs and they sent them in box, my recommendation if you want to avoid paying a lawyer $500 to advise you on how navigate the legal mistake is make a list of every file you want and it’s location. They have a form and you send that to IT. iT sends you your files after Hr approves none of them have company secrets.

Example:
Location (Eg box / documents) _folder_file name

What you should focus on getting now , before tomorrow, is people’s contact info for references or network

PERSONAL FILES. PERSONAL.

Fu-k, read the message.

Obviously do not steal Nike info. Be smarter.

Lots of roles have non-compete agreements. In my experience they are very rarely enforced. If you have the juice to quickly get a new position while on severance I would say go for it. Do know the job market is BLEAK at the moment (sorry).

@jhv+1r6P7C3y nope. I think we all sign a general one but nothing specific.

When we talk about transferring files, CFEs are fair game right? Like that's not proprietary. It's just my accomplishments and performance records.

If we're laid off, do we have any obligation not to find a new job during the 2 month period? If they say we can't work for them can we go somewhere else and continue to get the money/severance as agreed to?

@dxd+1r6P7C3y Go ahead. Enjoy the extra coat of a lawyer to help you navigate and being put on a legal hold. I have no stake in you sc--wing up or not, just trying to help.

@kbl+1r6P7C3y Doesn’t matter. You cannot take files off of a Nike computer.it’s against policy to plug in a USB or mail out files.

You provide Nike a list of what you want and they send it to you.

Ask me how I know

Literally DO NOT GET FILES OFF YOUR COMPUTER. Nike checks this. Nike will give you your files in box, you just need to ask for a list of them. If you take the files yourself it’s deemed stealing company property and they can fire you and will revoke your severance.

You took the training, it says not to do it so you’ve complied that you have the knowledge this is against policy.

Nike does check, and will make you bring in your personal laptop to scrub it, possibly fire you and Sue you if the feel necessary.
