Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Payments transformation you say…

GK isn’t messing around. J. Walker is out of Elavon and the CAO for PMI is leaving. Who’s next and what’s next for the hot mess that is all of payments inside of USB? Keep on transforming the bank GK 🤭

No need to worry, the new logo we’re working on will solve these issues and catapult Elavon to the #1 or 2 merchant acquirer in the world. You just wait and see 😂

Anyone who dared to question Jamie or his leadership circle was quickly shown the door. Under J. Owen’s watch, Elavon lost some of the sharpest and most experienced leaders the company ever had, and the fallout has been catastrophic.

Walker’s successor faces a massive cleanup. The past eight years have been defined by reckless decisions and the promotion of leaders who have done more damage in the last two years than anyone could have imagined. Elavon has gone from an industry leader to a punchline in the payments world.

In my opinion, JW was merely another failure as CEO, company tumbled to irrelevance in the payment acquiring world, surrounded himself with nothing but yes people that told him/reported to him what he wanted to hear, with no payments experience, no background or history in the payments space, zero track record, no ability to broaded or expand the Elavon business lines, but most importantly no one of which would call BS on the assinine leadership focus on social issues, bank earnings, DEI, BNPL, Paze and other money losing initiatives, while the competition has easily picked and chosen what and how many relationships, referral partners or alliance banks they want to convert to their own. Time to clean house again while bank media questions why U.S
Bank continues to fiddle with a business line they cannot grow like the other similarly situated businesses.

New CEO but same leadership philosophy that rewards failed executives with transfers and promos. JW was a colossal failure but he gets saved?

Jamie W. needed to be moved. Question is who will step in to take on this monster of a challenge? Not one member of his leadership team is remotely close to being a decent candidate and most of them need to also move on. His most recent bad hires should be the first ones out the door

Don’t know how he would be with Pam again. She hasn’t been on the USB board in years. She’s busy at Xplor.

Always seemed like Walker was bigger than Elavon and bigger than the rest of the execs, so I’m glad to seen him knocked down a peg or two. He resisted integration and continued to try to run his own shop. I don’t think now is the time to integrate, seems like the opportunity was missed, but I’m sure there’s a lot of hard feelings on both sides for how this played out. Walker will be gone in 6 months and be working with Pam again.

Pam is one of the many reasons Elavon is in the shape it’s in. She still holds sway with Jamie and was highly influential on one of the most disastrous hires he has made in the last 8 years.

Bringing her back would be a mistake.

The bank is going through a transformation into half McKinsey and half "fresh off the boat".
