Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Restructured out?

I’m hearing a lot about people being restructured into roles that are wildly out of alignment with what they were hired for. I am also hearing management preaching a lot of ‘we need you to be flexible and you may have to do things out of your typical role to move the bank forward’. What is the long game with this strategy? Is management aware of the lack of purpose, fulfillment and frustration this creates for many employees who are moved, particularly when they are moved to perceived ‘lesser’ roles? Why do this instead of just laying these people off - is the goal to get them to quit on their own?!? I really can’t believe how this bank treats its best employees.

Ugggggggggh. This is such a toxic environment. Moving people like this is such a f$cking red flag around company culture ans values, and a total mindf$ck to great employees who become targets of this. This company and its “management” are a total joke and drive their own once motivated and engaged employees to complete burnout and depression. My advice for anyone who has been treated like a punching bag here is to get out asap. It’s not you, they’ve been pulling this cr-p for years and it’s gross, mean and unethical. Corporate America is so, so broken.

Happened to me this year, and wow is it a nasty slap in my face. This company is despicable. I’ll hopefully be leaving soon.

@b7 U sound like GK “morale isn’t bad, make some friends” logic. Not all of us can compartmentalize and detach like apparently you can. Some of us actually want to feel valued at a place we spend 50+ hours of our life at a week, dragging our a$$es in to the office, losing money paying for gas and parking, while at the same time being treated like sh!t by our employer. Glad everything is sunny for you and you’ve got it all figured out for us all. 🙄

@ae maybe find a hobby or something so your day job isn't your entire life? Who cares, so long as you keep getting paid.

@a6 Bank simp. You’re part of the culture problem. Most people don’t want to be perceptually demoted, pay cut or not. I think this place is a toxic wasteland and the folks in charge don’t know wtf they are doing with their talent, and if you aren’t someone’s favorite or cheapest, you’re treated like a plague, even if you’re a Harvard MBA. Having said that, I hope anyone unfairly restructured or feels like they are being forced out just take the money while you can and bounce when the market is a little better. Id--ts are in charge here and it’s not your fault.

So you are annoyed with the bank trying to find new roles for employees no longer needed in their former toles? That is weird if I understand correctly. Are they forced to take pay cuts?
