Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Dear India,

While we have your attention, you might be gloating over taking good jobs but just remember you’re making embarrassing poverty wages because you are desperate. You are not respected, everyone knows you can’t do your job properly and you are just tolerated not appreciated. The poverty of your own country has given you opportunities no one is truly jealous of. We live in the greatest country in the world here in the USA and while you get your $2/ hour, we have something you will never have - pride of country, dignity, and a work ethic that far exceeds anything you could think of.

Final note… The Patel Hotel Cartels you all run here in the USA are absurdly embarrassing and rundown reminders of the dirty 3rd world India they represent. You have nothing to be proud of.

@b7 I agree with your assessment of OP. For reference, I am b2 & b6, and implied the same in my b2 comment.

@b6 and I don’t disagree with you at all, but the language in the OP is clearly insulting people of a different ethnicity, that don’t even reside in the US. Hence I said why not blame the big government and greedy corporations? Instead you are pinning blame on others who have not wronged you directly. Sorry but is it their fault to be born in India?

@b4 No, you very clearly do not get it. For one reason or another, industries see export of these jobs to be advantageous to their bottom line. That's not some form of forced capitulation. It's literally driving end stage capitalism. When companies and government become so powerful that they consolidate money and power to the detriment of its own populous. Congrats you've fed the machine. Stop trying so desperately to be the victim. The only people here buying it are your fellow bootlickers.

@b4 I’m a conservative and voted Trump. I’m against outsourcing too. But the language in the OP is very aggressive and apparently racist. You can be conservative and still respect people from other cultures.

@b2 ok we get it, someone might call us racist if we don’t open our borders to illegals and send all of our jobs overseas. We better capitulate. Better to destroy our economy and any hope for a future for natural born citizens when the alternative is being called a racist by ethnicities that all have their own ethnostates with homogenous cultures.

If India is such an economic powerhouse and doing so well on its own, why do they need American jobs from American companies?

Whoops, there I go making sense again. Better dial it down before I get called anti-Semitic.

@ay Maybe. Serious question though, are you implying that we are economically frail, have little global influence, and are easily undermined by countries with a tenth of our GDP? Yes, collectively, the BRICS countries are no doubt looking to undermine our global position. Many of them have said it publicly. The real question is why are our current political and corporate leaders are playing right into their hands? We are not enemies. It's not left vs. right. It's up vs. down.

It's not racist to have protectionist economic views. It is if frame those views with racially divisive rhetoric and as a cudgel against people who are doing nothing more than trying to survive and provide for their families, just like you.

@a8 weird how India benefits from the US decline. Could these two possibly be related? Could sending all jobs overseas to India impact the US economy and US workers negatively while boosting India?

Better not think too much about it. Someone on Reddit might call me racist.

Besides, sportsball is on the tv.

Or, if you're going to resort to nonsense and ad hominem attacks, maybe at least try to include some factual information to support your big feelings.

@av I know it’s easy for both sides to resort to political bickering, but let’s not lose sight of the real issue here. PP, DC, and the rest of the ELT.

@as Yes. We need to put people back in office who will send another trillion dollars to Ukraine so it can be laundered back and enrich our global leaders.

You can do your part to help! Remember to put your Ukraine flag next to your pride flag in your profile. Get triple vaxxed and wear triple masks. It’s very safe and effective.

OPs bigoted rant is a reminder of how well people mask their true selves at work. Equally disgusting is the number of upvotes his/her post received. Looking at the upvote numbers, it feels like every second person at the firm is a bigot.

Instead of directing our ire at the ELT that decided to move work offshore or bring in AI, you are blaming people in another country trying to make ends meet legally.

OP and the people who upvoted the post - Pls reflect on this and try to do better. It doesn’t take much to be a decent human being.

Dear @OP,

India has been among the fastest growing economies for a decade or more. Where is the US? Grinding ourselves into a recession and militarizing our cities. Good times.

You're directing your anger at the wrong people.

It’s wild to me that there’s such an emphasis on tariffs regarding American materials & products, but there are no tariffs regarding American employment.

If there were, companies like EDJ would be much less incentivized to outsource talent.

So many racist Kool Aide drinking boot lickers at EJ. Why blame the poor people from another country and not your corporate leaders and bought and paid for politicians? How bout blaming politicians that allow mega corporations to exploit H1-B visa programs? How bout blaming the politicians that take money from EJ’s donations to super PAC’s and politicians?

This workforce reduction is not caused by India. This is partly due to poor workforce strategy and the lack of leadership to position our firm. For instance, what has CHRO and HC to position our greatest assets in place so we are in position to be competitive? Nothing. They allowed the org to just hire people without a coherent strategy so it became bloated. That’s just one instance where our ELT have failed the firm yet collecting high salary. Should we talk about our chief transformation officer and what she has done and allowed to happen?
