It's nice to finally hear that DG is trying to accommodate remote workers in thoughtful manner next year!

@26e It's so crazy how everyone just takes it as a fact of life that this company is turning into a surveillance state.
@a6 I doubt it. I think it will probably depend on your direct manager and if he/she wishes to report you. If he/she wants to dismiss you for performance, the easiest thing is to see if you were actually coming into the office 5 days a week via card swipes. If that shows you're not coming in, HR doesn't need to do much else to fire you for cause. I doubt HR will proactively look for those not coming in 5 days a week, but I'm sure it'll be used against you if they want to remove you. I assume this was the case before COVID, when 5 days a week was the assumption (though I don't know anyone who got fired personally, so cannot attest to this).
Don't forget PARAsky just upped the breakup fee they have to pay WBD from $2 Billion to $5 Billion if the merger doesn't go through - so expect more and more layoffs if Netflix wins the merger bid
@r4 They consider “flexibility” doctor appointments or going to see your kid’s dance recital, everything people already did pre-Covid. Keep telling yourself they will be soft with RTO - I really hope you prove me wrong but I am not nearly as optimistic as you are.
@mj They said the decision they reach will be "thoughtful". They also said they will determine which roles will need to RTO and which ones shall remain fully remote.
They also said they are going to be flexible with RTO as "life happens".
By this time next year, itll be a soft 2-3 days a week in the office. Guaranteed.
@b4 Not if they are senior leaders, including department heads. You can name Ellison or Weiss or an EVP of, say, streaming. You just can't name regular folks, which is most of us and our direct managers. Anyone at a high enough level that they can offer "assurances" about a company-wide policy can surely be named.
Can someone elaborate on what was said and what it means for phase 2?
@e1 Jealous much? Speak for yourself. I can work on the beach everyday. Can you?
The current team is responsible for possibly the worst streaming app in the market.
@dp Like it matters where people work? Jealous much?
Does this apply to those of us in the Caribbean?
@d2 I’ll help you pack.
@aj Top talent left as a result of Phase 1 RTO. I'm one of those Phase 2 talent that will leave immediately if they mandate RTO 5 days a week.
@am Relax, moderators will remove posts that name actual people. If you work here and this is relevant to you, you will know who they are referring to.
Who is DG and DR? Why do people do this abbreviation bullsh-t?
DG had the right message. I wanted to scream at DR with his last minute BS speech. I am glad DG cut him off. DG has the most to lose in this RTO BS. Top tech talent is not going to sit in an office 5 days a week.
This will create a culture clash of those 5 days a week onsite with those fully remote.
@a1 Perhaps. But it's going to hurt them enforce 5 day rto as the year progresses. We'll be doing an unofficial soft 2-3 days by the end of 2026.
The 5 day mandate was always about shedding people voluntarily.
I missed it, what did he say?
@a1 misery loves company
Completely unfair to Phase 1. Streaming favoritism continues
