Telecommunications giant Verizon
Communications +0.83%A is moving its headquarters to a larger office space in Manhattan as it ramps up in-office requirements for most of its management employees.

Verizon has leased 200,000 square feet in a recently renovated office tower near Manhattan's Penn Station, according to people familiar with the matter. Verizon plans to consolidate next year over 1,000 employees currently working in two other Manhattan locations.

Ahead of the move, Verizon is tightening up its return-to-office policy. Management and corporate employees approved for hybrid work will be required to report to the office three days a week, beginning the day after Labor Day, said a company spokesman.
Previously, the company required these employees to work from the office eight days a month. Employees approved for full-time remote work likely won't be affected.

Seeing these id--ts on here saying that people only work while they're in the office is such BS. I know people who took 1 1/2 lunches while in the office. At home, I take maybe 10 minutes and eat my lunch while on calls. Not to mention you have to deal with those people who have nothing better to do than to walk into people's offices and yap.

Good luck mo--ns. Tow that company line... what saps you are. Not all of us are lazy b-ms that do laundry all day.

By the way, Verizon leadership is sickly hapless. They buy "Blue Jeans" and AOL -- both of which stupid ... and secondly... they sell Frontier, and then buy them back at a much higher price. If any one of us did that, we'd be fired, but the higher ups take care of themselves. How many BILLIONS have been lost by these incompetent "managers"?

NYC office is so they can go watch hockey without a helicopter ride, that’s literally why. Sam indirectly said it in the video.

@c7 that's the "let them eat cake" attitude that is a cancer in corporate.

@b4 the new HQ is partially owned by BlackRock which Hans is on the board of. Corruption is now normalized and VZ leadership is a yuge part of it. They don’t give a cr-p about the lives of vteamers impacted. There’s an army of young and naive workers ready to take the place at that “iconic” red chair for anyone that dares speak up. The answer to the BlackRock ruling class is yes sir, yes ma’am. And depending on who is president blackrock will take a yes they too. Not that blackrock cares about social policies. All that matters to elites is money and power.

If you don’t like your commute then move closer to the office. Nobody is making you work here. If you don’t like it then leave.

@aj The commuting burden varies wildly by location. For example, public transportation in NYC, as widely known and reported, presents challenges not equivalent for other sites where workers drive from their homes to workplace parking lots and garages. Today in NYC folks were leaving the office early morning after experiencing subway heat sickness.

5day RTO is an industry standard. You’re lucky we’re only 3. Just go to the office and actually work. It’s not that hard.
