Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

It's too much

I’ve had it with this place and I’m pushing hard to find something else. Even with a rough job market, I can’t stay here any longer. Constant layoffs are draining and I really need a job where I can focus on my work, even if it's for less pay. Thanks, Cisco, for bringing me to the point I never thought I'd be in.

Rest and invest like someone else said, or complain to HR about ethical behavior in the workplace and you will be added to the next LR list.

Start by taking back your time. Stop caring. See Lester Burnham from American Beauty for reference.

(It's too bad Kevin Spacey turned out to be a dirtbag in RL)

@ek

Funny how as soon as the admin shuts down billions of wasteful gov't funding, there's a bunch of companies laying ppl off. It's almost like those companies were heavily funded by taxpayers and/or digital dollars created from thin air.

@ax that's how i did it. LR'd last november right before the move to "unlimited pto" . Turned 65 2 months later. Severence, Pto, etc added up to about a year's pay.

I feel the same way. I am in GSSO and I’ve never seen it so bad. I’ve been here for 15+ years in the last couple have been brutal. Leadership is so disconnected!

California replaced by RTP.
RTP replaced by Poland and Mexico.
All replaced by NDA both onshore and offshore
NDA replaced by AI built by NDAns.

Engineers are digging their own grave.

Appears you are suffering from delusions because there is no work at Cisco. And you sound agitated. Recommend doing what most people at Cisco do under the pretext of working from home: sm0ke weed, watch p0rn, wa-k off,, sm0ke weed, watch p0rn, wa-k off… alternatively. That’ll relax you.

And remember the doctrine of our venerable CTO EMEA, the Patel of all Patels: “Change is the only constant “.

There, see, you already feel better.

I wouldnt do it unless you already have a dream job to go to in this market.

Its honestly the most brutal job market for tech that I remember...

Just do what you can to hold on, get training and plot your exit to a dream job...

Its brutal out there right now, and it looks like the AI tech bubble is popping too...
Thats not going to land well for many people...

The fundamental "quality of life" issue is there is no correlation between the quality of work produced and amount of effort; to then not being safe from layoff.

People cannot build futures for their families, including sending their children to college, at a soulless company that will let you go for essentially no reason related to the quality of your work.

On top of the above, it is just incredibly demeaning and irrational, that senior leadership galavants around and pretends that all is well with the "Cisco Family"

As far as I am concerned, they can all go pound sand. Worthless, yet enabled. Disgusting to be under their control.

I've also reached the end of my rope at this company, but I'm on the road to retirement, so I'll stay until I leave. If Cisco wants to give me an LR package before then, even better.

@OP, the job market in the US is really tough right now, so beware.
