I wonder how many of the Brand team travelled to SXSW, how much it cost the company in totality, and if we’re tracking leads generated from all that money spent for a CMO to spend time on a stage.

Why are people so angry at this? Clover needs brand awareness to grow in the VERY lucrative micro-merchant industry. Fiserv gets 100% of the revenue on all these new Clover Business Solutions micro-merchants. This marketing strategy is all about micro and small merchants because that is where revenue is made. The big box blue store does not make Fiserv money, nor do the golden arches or the oil spills.

Marketing's job is to open the door not make the sale! This was all about creating buzz and making Clover a household brand like Square. As our friend Mark Cuban likes to say 'trust the process'

You just don't understand what it important. The marketing team's next employer was at that event. If they didn't make an impression, then they might be stuck at Fiserv. It is super important to the team to have that level of visibility. Once they find the right company, Fiserv will be saving tons of money. Don't you want Fiserv to save money?

Brand awareness huh? I think it is known industry wide how bad Clover is. It's removed faster than installing. Whatever happened with the South American hype about it? Maybe they are realizing the errors of their ways.

You're never going to know just how massive that team was on-site. What you will know is that Marketing will expect/urge all of us to like, share, comment about this great new tv show revealed at SXSW, hosted by the Spice lady and brought to us by Clover. Clover makes tv shows now. How awesome! Our CMO appears in the first episode along with her entourage. Even more awesome, right? 😑
