Predictions on CE1

What do people think about CE1 lately all Doug can talk about is CE1 and though we know it’s a ev small pickup they act like it’s a model T moment I don’t think that vehicle will amount to even 1% sales.
But the leadership in model E act like this is the next biggest thing and I don’t really see them caring about programs that actually make money

Ford cannot make high quality trucks at 60 to 80k. 115 recalls last year.
Do you think is low cost garbage will be any different. Model T is innovation of Henry ford who had lot of expertise and knows the customer both Henry ford senior duo did marvellous job. But current ceo and cto both su-kers taking the ford to deepshit. Cancelled fnv4 have much higher quality software than this garbage ce1. Ford should adopt Honda model when comes to platform and act like Honda when comes to quality. I was ex ford employee, now working in Honda.
I can see huge difference in making things, ford is selling trucks because of uselesss trump supporters otherwise it will be bankrupt long back.

Henry ford will commit sucide today if he see quality of ford cars and how once in history ford means American pride has become

@eq This example is actually emotional dissonance, good analogy however.

@eq To your point about cognitive dissonance. I've noticed in a number of interviews our CEO makes two contrasting statements. We stopped building passenger cars because we couldn't compete on price with the Asians. But the second statement is that our mid-size EV will be price-competitive with the Chinese.

How can both statements be true? F had 40-50 years competing in passenger cars and couldn't win, but we're going to come out of the gate and beat the Chinese who have had a 10 year headstart?

DF is god he will change future of this falling empire with one tiny project, watch it he will disappear as soon as he realizes that he can’t sell the same snake oil again and again!!! Do you thing anything like this will match what BYD and other OEMs have to offer??

@en To borrow from a previous poster - Cognitive dissonance is holding two conflicting beliefs as true at the same time, which creates psychological discomfort. To reduce that discomfort, the mind often rationalizes or invents a third explanation to reconcile them.
For example: “She loves me” and “She loves me not” can’t both be true, so the mind resolves the tension with “She must be evil.” That explanation may not be accurate, but it relieves the discomfort of uncertainty in the absence of new information.

You couldn't be more wrong and don't know what you're talking about.

DF is the key leader within the company and Musk knows he lost this talent. Tesla isn't even growing and what new technology have they even shown the last few years? Meanwhile Model e and Skunkworks will take over the affordable BEV space sooner than your think.

@b7 You have a typo. Please replace the "p" with a "t" in leadership. Thank you for your attention to that matter!

I agree. It is a Model T moment. Now cut your fingers off on both hands and just count how many Ts you see on the road during your commute. EXACTLY!

@dz Unlike a college campus it's a privately owned website that can do whatever they like with speech they dislike.

If it’s actually around $30k, has acceptable range, and doesn’t balloon to $45k + with options that should be standard and dealer markups and delivery fees (and doesn’t look weird) it will probably do well. They need to stop talking about it and unveil it already.

@a5 I retired from the group responsible for future software downloads on our products. We were told to look the other way as the CE1 team was given completely new testing software and vehicle architecture because the leadership who came from @pple had more experience in delivering software. The CE1 team is on their own now paddling and steering with 1 oar. What could go wrong with DF leading SW?

DF is still day dreaming about his Tesla days where he had to take a sabbitcal leave then fled to apple after Elon chewed him up for incompetence.... This man hasn't delivered a single thing worth mentioning at Ford. Ford is really toast with this guy at helm he will waste a decade on stupid projects and won't provide anything of value to F150 and other vehicle that actually make the company money...

Get the base price lower and maybe it has a chance. There is nothing truly unique about it.

No one wants this stupid little truck. It will be as big of a failure as the Lightening. People still want hybrids. Just make a small car hybrid… oh we don’t make small cars anymore. Insanity.

Why you call them ,leadership" , some go--o-fs who keep su-king money and stay afloat in order to extend time and jump over somewhere else after making millions.

I bet the people working on CE1 would like space and to be left alone to focus in peace and realize their potential but the haters cant do that because they worship satan and are corrupt in this state unfortunately

"and I don’t really see them caring about programs that actually make money"

There are reasons for this. Model e leadership realizes the programs you think make so much money actually don't to the extent you think. Legacy products cost the company excessive costs with warranty and recall campaigns. Not to mention tarnish the brand and corporate names.

The upcoming Model e mobility products are much simpler which directly leads to significantly improved quality. Plus they will leverage the subscription based business model more than any legacy product can, this means increased revenue with little investment and upkeep. Software and high tech products are the company's future.
