Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Two weeks in and I'm on the edge.

It has been two weeks since many members of my team have been involuntarily / voluntarily separated. I've picked up so much work and responsibilities. Any suggestions for what I should do? I'm feeling completely burnt out. I'm looking at other organizations to apply to because I just don't feel appreciated, or even that our superiors are aware of the impact these changes have on me and our team.

It seems as if the whole unplanned Mission Simplify (referencing Town Hall presentation) did not plan for the fact that these people are being let go right before AEP, leaving no one else to fill in for them but the people still left behind during the busiest season for the company.

At least if my people leader presented me with a plan - I would feel a bit better. But there is no discussion of increase in team resources or pay.

I'm not quite sure how much longer I can go on like this.

@h4 I did address it. Do you not know how to read and comprehend like all the other brain dead crybabies here. I said stop crying on TheLayoff and spend time finding resources that can improve your skills and mental state.

@m3 Bravo! Well said! To borrows from a line from an episode of Parks & Recreation, Treat Yourself!” to some grace regarding your workload, your peace of mind, your happiness.

And do not allow these corporations to steal that from you nor bullying you to do way more than you were hired on to do, expecting you to do more with less, if it is obviously going beyond normal expectations.

Nowadays, going above and beyond is not truly appreciated because empty disingenuous words from leaders do not mean much and do not pay the bills. If they truly appreciated you, they would give you annual raises that kept up with inflation and they would promote you if a good worker with lots of acumen and tenor.

So, be kind to yourself! Just do your 40 hours per week and log off. Nothing more!

A wise coworker once told me, "It all pays the same". Meaning, you can put in 100 hours a week and do the work of 5 people, and you get your regular paycheck. Or, you can work 40 hours a week and do the job you were hired to do, and you still get your regular paycheck. Either way, Centene will still likely show you the door one day, no matter how many decades you worked there. Doesn't matter if you're the only one that knows how something works. Doesn't matter if you know where all the bodies are hidden. If Centene cared about you or members or providers, then you and everyone else wouldn't be in this position. So take care of yourself. It pays the same.

Learn to prioritize which is the same thing as pushing back. Take all your work to your people leader and ask them to set priorities. They should be able to get the hint from that.

@h4 I think @d2 is from one of the layoff forum administrators add ing their two cents. They really should stick to silently doing their admin job instead of interjecting with their viewpoints, which is not their place.

@d2 how does that address their struggles and their workload? You did not address a single issue of OP’s. You’re either a bot or completely incompetent .

@OP Here’s an idea. Stop going to anonymous websites about layoffs to cry about your situation. Do something or learn something from a dedicated source to improve your skill set and knowledge.

Push back. I know; I never did till it got to the point that it was too much, by then it was too late. Learn to say No or come up with ideas on how to complete the work and share with your PL. Keep notes on everything including meeting with you PL and their direction.

Welcome to mission simplify. This is the new normal and will only get worse.

@ar Then let the PL do it! The more we continue to do it and do extra and keep going above and beyond then they will lay off more people cause they think we can handle it. Everyone is processing this whole thing their own way, but I am sure not letting this place steal my joy, make me stressed or have anxiety when they don’t appreciate me. We can only do what we can and anyone who wants to be a super producer be my guest but it will not be me!

Learn how to use the word "no". Set and enforce boundaries.

These horsesh-t workforce reductions only work to the extent that people like you jump up to complete the now-unassigned workloads.

If those employees were not needed, then neither was their output.
