Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What do I do?

So my dept was job completed/lay off while I was on vacation. I RTO to my office which I’m by myself and remote from everyone else. My boss and 2 other remote coworkers who I only conversed with over email were let go. I never got notified and nothing in company mail. I came back from work and worked like normal and learned over the next several days what happened. I didn’t reach out. All my logins work, I get automatic generated tickets to review then send off. Everything is still working and I can continue and have been continued to do my duties. I’ve done this already for the past several weeks and even got paid.

Should I reach out my 3rd line or just lay low and keep working? In webphone I am also NOW listed under my 3rd line when before I was under my manager and my coworkers.

He did state that his whole department was "job completed" and laid off.
That right there tells you he was a contractor, last time I saw this we had 30 plus "temp" technicians and when their job was "completed" they were all shown the door.
No way anyone would just be "moved" to someone else under another manager.
Sounds very made up

@w6 we have Avp’s working for other Avp’s ? What happened to using Power Bi for reviewing relationship management in webphone ? Oops I forgot you fired the intelligent employees and you were left with incompetent HR and management

My old job was like that. Enjoy your time, because an AI bot will soon take over your job. I promise.

Anyone over 50 , L2 and above , who’s been in their role over 5 years needs to be laid off - they bring nothing new .! Esp those who’ve been there excess 15 years they’ve played the system to remain there .

When is the SLT and HR going to be thinned down now that the whole of AT&T has been thinned down ? Surely these 2 areas need redundancies also now ?

@hq How did you know his/her badge still works? Were you next to him/her while entering the building? It is all based on what he/she posted. For god sake, it is very obvious this is not a valid story.

I suspect that this is false as well, but that said , it wasn’t that long ago where this type of situation really wouldn’t have surprised me.

If you’ve been here a while you have probably interacted with teams and / or individuals on teams as described on occasion. Seemingly completely disconnected. Can’t get a hold of anyone. No apparent accountability to anyone and no clear deliverables.

I thought most of those groups and folks had been weeded out by now, but would not be completely surprised if there were some last vestiges of it.

“ completely agree with you that this is a made up story to get attention. How is this individual not aware of his/her teammates (entire dept.) were laid off and continued to work for the several days after returning to the office”

Yeah. His badge still worked?

"Emo,oyees are laid off with 30 day notice and a very formal process."

They have been shortening the amount of time you work after notice, probably because they are afraid that an outgoing employee might try to sabotage things.

@aq I completely agree with you that this is a made up story to get attention. How is this individual not aware of his/her teammates (entire dept.) were laid off and continued to work for the several days after returning to the office. Does your team members not message you while you were on PTO/vacation when the entire team is being laid off? And when you returned to the office, would not see your team members are no longer on Webphone/MS team? It is odd that you don't message your team members upon returning to the office but waited several days later to noticed they are all gone. There are too many suspicious points and they don't add up. How would your 3rd level manager not inform of the situation? Things don't add up, OP.

We should just ignore HR and management and just keep working and get a pay check 😂. They work together to get you fired irrelevant how good you are at your duties

Just keep working.

Seeing you're the only one left and now doing the work of the whole group, sounds like cost cuts were needed.

This is story is definitely made up and not true. It is not possible. How were you notified you being laid off or still employed with a new manager. This is all made up and stop trolling. If it is true, post me your employee ID and I will track down your status on your behalf.

BS, the one thing the company does well is fire people. HR would know your boss was getting axed and find someone else to track you down and tell you (and set up your access to be pulled.) Saw this scenario more than once.

This is BS unless maybe you’re a contractor? Emo,oyees are laid off with 30 day notice and a very formal process.

Reach out to your 3rd line and see what they advise. You don’t want to keep coming in and working only to find the checks stopped. Maybe you still have a job, but I’d definitely be looking for something else.

If the checks keep coming I wouldn’t say a word.
Imagine reaching out and them firing you.

We as employees as in a hostile relationship with the employer.
You have to get one over on them, incentives are no longer aligned. They want you fired, broke, and miserable.

Don’t tell anyone, keep collecting checks.
We win by taking as much from them as we can.

You’re Milton.
Keep badging in, hiding in the basement, and collecting paychecks.
Bring a Nintendo Switch to work, and beat Zelda.
Enjoy your freedom from the bullsh-t, trade while at work to bring in extra income.
Leverage this, and pull as many resources from this joke of a company as you can.

Congrats.

Keep low low low , soon they won’t recognise you are still there , don’t do anything and keep getting a pay check , this is efficiency at its best . Just like the management

Lmao to the other person point. This happens A LOT just keep showing up and working.

More often than not, you'd eventually just be reassigned elsewhere

That’s hilarious, so anyone laid off just keep coming in and work as usual until someone notices you shouldn’t be there - let’s tell the other 100,000 odd people who’ve been laid off 😂
