A decade ago, I'd have happily recommended Nike as an excellent place to work. Today, I would tell anybody who shows interest in working here to run for the hills. No matter how hard you work, your commitment and performance will never be good enough. You will have zero work/life balance and you'll be disrespected on a daily basis.
Most of those who were laid off now see it as a blessing in disguise. Those of us who are still here are on borrowed time.

I think some skills are use it or lose it. my industry, the skills are like riding a bike. you'll always know how. I don't mind not doing anything at NIKE and still being paid. LOL
many people were working multiple jobs during the pandemic and brought in the dough. seems possible with Nike as one of the companies to work for lol
why wouldnt you just use your free time to strengthen your skills or take a second job and double dip the income?
You hit the nail on the head. A lot of Nike people who are struggling to find work don’t have marketable skills other than a-s kissing. Nike is one of the few companies that pays people to hang out and wear the brand.
@api+1u0dlWta I can answer this question for you. Yes it looked like a dream job that I was getting paid 6 figures and had nothing to do but it was only good for a while. After that, you would realize you are missing the time. Skills are use it or lose it type of deal. I did not go to school to acquire skills that would be forgotten. Also, I was getting g paid 140k with a master degree level 40 but my classmates were getting paid twice. Sure they have to actually work but it must be nice that they are getting paid twice as me and they are also learning new skills every day. Have you looked at those who were laid off after 10 or 15 years at Nike? They are still unemployed as they just got used to this life style and now they barely have any skills to make themselves . So yeah I quit and went to a job that pays a bit more than Nike but I actually have something to learn evey day
Serious question, why would people leave/quit/look for a new job if they had nothing to do @ NIKE. That seems like the dream situation, right? Get paid to do nothing?
This was literally me for 2 years at NIKE before i got laid off. I'd go back in a heartbeat just to get paid and barely do any work again.
Good riddance. Don’t let the door hit ya you know where
The job market is tricky but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Every week I see people who were in my layoff cohort announce their new jobs on LinkedIn (including me).
If you’re still at Nike, start applying just in case. There will be more layoffs.
I saw the writing on the wall two years ago and voluntarily left. It was no longer the same company I had joined in 2010. I’m glad I was there for at least some of the good years. But yeah, I wouldn’t consider going back now.
I left Nike a few days ago! My biggest issue with Nike was that my days had no agenda! I would show up and there was nothing for me to do. It had been the case for the last 3 years... I had another co worker who quit almost after 10 years. Nike is falling down losing all the talents
Please leave.
Agreed. This is not even close to the company I joined. It used to be about the company culture, creating great product, and while you worked long hours, there was a sense of pride in what you were doing so it did not really matter. Back then there was also a connection with the executives. I remember MP, ES, NA, MA, etc... being out with the employees and having a general interest in what they were doing. Today I don't see any reason to put in long hours and perform at a high level since there were too many that were just let go that were actually great performers and leaders while others that were not, but were great at su-king up, are still here. The culture has gone to cr-p and the leaders in place only care about control and having their leaders agree with everything they say.
