Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What’s the lowest you’ve seen a 6V make?

If you’re a 7T making $100k, and you get a promotion to 6V, the rules say you’re limited to a 10% raise, so $110k in that case. However, looking at many 6V jobs, the pay band starts above $110k. So which rule prevails? The limit on raises, or do you get to break the 10% rule if the pay band starts at, say, $130k?

If your salary is not increased to the lowest amount of the tier, then next year this person will be provided a piece of the rest of the teams, since they are not penetrated as far or not even in the pay tier. Like many other things at VZ, it may or may not be deserved, but they believe regression to the mean is best.

6v has many different pay scales. It all depends if the title is technical or not. Those that are technical titles have a higher pay band. Also you have those with distinguished engineer titles that are usually above $200k. Add to that picture those that are titled as Fellow and Associate Fellow, both which are top tier 6v technical titles and pay a lot.

6V at $206k base, what is your location? Have been told the cap was much lower that for band 6. Thanks.

You can get more than a 10% raise. Years ago when I got my promotion to 6V from 7V, my raise was 23%. I got a substantial increase because I was moving into a technical role.

You have 6V4P, 6V5P, 6V6P, amongst many others. It can be more than 10% if the min pay for new role is higher.

As @am+1jmmr9tf0 stated, there are thousands of different jobs in the 6V band. Your increase will depend on where your current salary sits in relation to the pay range of the job you are moving into. If you are below the minimum for the new job, you would typically be brought in at the minimum which could be more than a 10% increase. All depends. That said you don't see movement from a 7T straight to 6V very often.

Lateral moves will pay very little going forward. Promotions raises will depend when you sit in the band you’re going to, likely not to exceed 10% if you last rating was exceeding or better.

Also depends on job title and functionality. Seen 6V Ops Support starting at 91K, LD Design 105k, Assurance Performance 101k, Business Strategy 120k, Product Mgr 128k. Not all 6V is the same. Also all the Engineers make start significantly more

You’ll get the minimum base pay for 6V, depending on location - should be 130ish nowadays.
